Itís been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and weíre ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isnít a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going íround this winter. It isnít our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. Itís a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA ó but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

Beautiful head after a vigorous pour. Smell is HOPS, and plenty (northern brewer?). Taste is sweet, citrus fruits, pine and hops. A little warm, and slight boozey feel. Definitely a great ipa.

This isnít my favorite DIPA, but its high ABV is well hidden. I donít really care for the hop profile. Itís not as crisp as I like. The mouthfeel is sort of thick and sticky. Still a good DIPA and definitely a bit different than most.

Fat på Flying Scotsman. Dimmig bärnsten med en tvåfingerskrona smutsvitt skum. Doftar kåda och malt. Smakar humle helt enkelt! Inte så kraftig för att vara en dIPA dock. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Transfer from BA review on 12-4-12- Served on tap in a 10 oz snifter Appearance Ė The beer is served a hazy yellow-orange amber color with a one finger white head that fades very quickly. Upon fading it leaves a decent level of lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell Ė The aroma is heavy of a grapefruit and light earthy hop aroma. Mixed with these are other sweet tropical fruit aromas as well as a light bready aroma. Taste Ė The taste begins with flavors of a bready flavor mixed with a good abundance of some grapefruit hop. The grapefruit hop remains strong throughout the taste with it collimating at the end. After the initial taste some sweeter tropical fruit flavors of a tangerine and orange nature come to the tongue. Some notes of a caramel nature also enter the taste as it moves on which in the middle and toward the end sweeten the brew quite a bit. In the end with the upsurge of more grapefruit and a lighter bitter earthy flavor end up bringing a nice bitter-sweet hop flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel Ė The thickness of the brew is on the slightly creamier side with a carbonation level that is a bit on the higher side. While normally I like a lower carbonation on a double IPA this on brew it is suited rather nicely by the higher carbonation as it is good for the sweeter body and the hop flavor blend of grapefruit and light earthy tastes. Overall Ė A pretty tasty double overall. A bit on the sweeter side but with a good balance of hop flavors.

A taste to blow you away. You don't expect that much power from a tiny little can but don't let the size fool you. The color is dark brown, hoppy smell with notes of resins, pine and malts. The taste is a full bodied IPA that will satisfy you in every which way. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a can into a pint glass: Pours amber with a slight white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, and pine. Taste is more of the same, but is really sweet which I would expect with a double IPA. The pine resin is strong with this one. Medium body, medium carbonation. Itís alright but too sweet.

Light rust orange with a persistent, thin milky surface. Hard water mineral aroma is most prevalent with iron, gravel and calcium, while lots of pine resin and white grapefruit oil fill in the traditional lower hop levels.

Tons of toffee and dry caramel malts in the flavor, with green tea and so much resin; this is as straight and simple as it gets. Mild herbs with mostly mint coming through. Brown sugar, honey, orange oil; typical barley wine blurring stuff with pleasant enough flavors.

Heavy palate with the crystal slickness in full. This is as Bush era American as it gets, and it does a fine job with tempering its aggressiveness for the most part.

From a can. Pours cloudy orange, big fruity aroma, tiny lasting head, a full body with a lingering grapefruit bitterness and some resin mouth feel. A great beer for those who like huge hop flavours.

12oz can into a pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy medium gold with a frothy one finger white head. Head retention is long lasting considering the strength with some spotty lacing. Aroma is a huge citrus punch of hops with a strong lemon-lime note; almost like opening a can of Sprite. There is a touch of vanilla in there as well. This is one of the more interesting aromas from an IPA I have experienced. Huge punch of citrus in the flavor as the lemon lime present in the aroma comes through in the taste. That same light vanilla note is present in the taste along with a light biscuit from the malt. Bitterness is absolutely over the top and really begins to get a bit taxing half way through the glass. Drinkability is surprisingly high with the alcohol very well hidden. Overall, this beer impresses me. Crazy high drinkability and a very unique hop aroma and taste compared to many other IPA/IIPAís on the market. Definitely one to try.

Can from Whole Foods Miami Beach. Gold pour with white head. Very nice fruity, sweet and resinous aroma. Flavor is sweet up front with a slightly bitter resinous finish. Carbonation is pretty light and body is not as heavy as most double IPAs I have had.
