It’s been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and we’re ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isn’t a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going ’round this winter. It isn’t our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. It’s a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA — but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

A great dipa! poured from a growler. Head is about 1-2 fingers that slowly builds up after a pour, bubbles are fairly spread apart but nice carbonation and lacing. Smell is citrussy with a good malt backbone. Taste is citrussy with a hop resinous mouth. Not to biteror grapefruit pith taste. Bitterness lingers but not over the top. Strong but not boozy. Definitely a repeat buy.

Clear bright amber pour with a slight white head. Nice resin hoppy nose, some orange. Low bitterness until the very end. Big hops. Juicy citrus and earthy. Good. Odd small can.

Can: Appearance: light orange/brown color with a very small head. Aroma: malt, caramel, light bitter citrus Taste: similar to the aroma with more caramel and a bit more bitter. Palate: Do I detect a little bit of non-bitter fruit? Refreshing, as per most of Sixpoint. A more refreshing take on a DIPA, less hoppy than most, not a bad thing to be honest. Exactly as described, loosely a DIPA.

Amber with a very small light beige head. Aroma is caramel, citric fruity (grapefruit and oranges) and herbal. Taste is strong bread and caramel, also very herbal and citric (lemon, oranges and grapefruit). Strong bitter aftertaste.

355ml can from Whole Foods - Tribeca, New York. BB20OCT2015. Thanks Jesse!

Dark golden colour with a big white head. Floral, caramel, hops, orange, citrus, resin, sweet and sticky. Doesn’t feel like 103 IBU.

Interesting looking can received in a trade with mstrcrwly. Clear golden amber with a two finger foamy head. A single string of bubbles floats up. This beer smells like a classic west coast IPA with citrus in front and floral notes behind. Just a little pine in the aroma but more in the flavor. I’ll say it. The feel is resiny. Some vegetable flavors. Malts are big and bring more sweetness than distinct flavors. Just a little cardboard and lighter tropical fruit flavors. I never did taste alcohol and that is a plus. Nicely done.

Can poured into pint glass. Aroma is true to the name with s strong hit of resin, combined with nice floral notes. Appearance is a nice clear, reddish gold color with a nice 1 inch white foam head. Taste is very bitter, I say that in a good way. I can actually apply the umami keyword here, as it hits on all cylinders. Palate is slick with average carbonation, not too much nor too little. Finish is long and bitter. This was an excellent beer.
