Itís been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and weíre ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isnít a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going íround this winter. It isnít our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. Itís a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA ó but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

Hops come on strong and pack a punch. Slowly and pleasantly fade to some sweetness. Hoppy sweet aftertaste. Mellow minor head and fairly mellow carbonation. Super drinkable and refreshing considering all the hops. Strong but doesnt slap you in the face too hard ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml slim can, shared with Finn at Imperial (JDW). Cloody orange coloured body. Crocheted lacing from a low white head. Rich taste of ripe citrus. Taste of citrus, peaches and pine needles followed by mid-dry resinous bitterness to a lingering aftertaste. Full bodied. Strong and tasty (Exeter 29.09.2016).

Happily, itís becoming increasingly common for me to have a beer thatís been on my radar for some time. Usually, I have to use vague terms and say Iíve wanted something "for a while." I can pinpoint the time and place of when I decided I wanted to try Resin. Junior year in my dorm room. I was still new to beer but figuring out I really liked hops. A site called BrewGene (I say site because I was too poor for a smartphone and didnít get the app) featured this as one its Top 100. My eyes were drawn to the cool can and the Imperial IPA listing. Fast forward 3 years. A six pack of Resin came back with me from NYC in my suitcase. Enough of all that. Pour is orange and unusually clear for an IPA. Dank nose with pine, passion fruit, grapefruit, and orange. More of the same in the flavor plus mango. Very aggressive - lots of bitterness. Itís a big goddamn chewy beer. The alcoholís practically undetectable under all the hops. As always, this is the kind of thing that will thrill hopheads and perplex anyone else.

12 fl oz can at home in Richmond as íSixpoint Resiní, 9.1%, BB July 2017. My first ever Wetherspoons takeaway beer. Dark amber orange, hazy, lightly sparkling, foamy beige head. Aroma is rose water, Centennial, toffee, petals and pollen. Body is quite light, spritzy carbonation, a touch foamy. Taste is mega resinous as promised, big pine, some booze showing up, intense puckering floral hop vibes, perfume and grapefruit extract, dry and aggressively bitter into the finish. Very, very hoppy. A bit harsh for me - overcooked. If for you bigger is better hop-wise: strongly recommended.

Pours dark orange with medium head. Aroma: orange peel, pine tree, touch of malt. Taste: very aggressive (in a positive sense) pine tree with malt, citrus fruit and oranges. Palate is long and super hoppy. This is a great dipa.

Can in Redcar Wetherspoons. Pours slightly hazy golden with a frothy cream head. Pine aroma. The taste has plenty of bitter resinous pine along with moderate spice and a touch of aniseed. Decent.

Golden to amber in colour with thin head. The aroma has a lot of caramelised, candied sugary sweet notes. Flavour is much more hoppy. Quite syrupy. Syrupy fruits and resinous hops. Interesting and quite well balanced for such a strong beer.

Can, William Wygston, Wigston. Hazy golden orange with a bubbly off white head. Pale toasted malts with resinous, green, herbal pine and bittersweet grapefruit. Floral with light tropical sweetness. Nutty with a mineral body. Spiced oranges with candy sugar. Sticky. Leafy bitter, pithy finish. Very good easily available beer.

Can from Wetherspoons, pours a clear amber-brown with a lasting straggly head. The nose lives up to the name - a resin hit, with hints of honey, orange and maybe thyme. It has the legs and viscosity of a heavy wine, which hit the palate slightly syrupy and dry-sweet, before turning bitter and harshening into the finish. Touches of marmalade and golden syrup donít do enough to balance the stringent dry-bitter aftertaste.
