COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and we’re ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isn’t a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going ’round this winter. It isn’t our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. It’s a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA — but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

Slender 12 oz can purchased as a Single at Pace-Hi Beer and Wine Shop in Columbus, Ohio. The pour is a hazed orange golden with a one inch light tan head. The aroma is resin bitterness, a hint of black licorice, and cracker malt behind that. The taste is pine juniper resin, turning to a weird honey sweet alcohol. Sweetness cloys a fair bit, detracting from the pleasant resin bitterness. The palate is medium bodied, low carbonation level, and finishing with the honey sweet booze. There were parts of this I liked, but the booze and sweet took away some enjoyment.

This Ale has a copper gold color with a fruity hoppy scent. The flavor is juicy, jammy sticky resin, full of citrus notes with the perfect hop forward blast. Hail NY for such a delicious west coast inspired double IPA. Cheers!

Good, but nothing to floor you. Says what it means, and worth its price. Enjoyed it and would get again if there wasn’t another beer I hadn’t yet tried

355 ml. can sampled @ Pure Apricot Tasting. Thanks! Glad to finally try this one. Almost clear golden, little white head. Iron, citrus, lemon nose, very clean hops, light fresh pineapple. Bitter grass taste, touch odd & lingering, hop juice, resin, grapefruit, touch toffee, bit odd hop-profile. Light bodied. Nice but nothing stellar.

Wow I really like this beer. And now I know where to get it locally. Big resinny (sp) bitter hit but not in any way overpowering. The malt sweetness does a great job of balancing. Even though it’s fairly high alcohol, it doesn’t come across in the taste. I’m drinking from the can and it just feels right. It’s Headt Topper’s slightly younger brother. Well done.

Golden color, small head retention. Taste is crisp, floral and grass. The finish is surprisingly smooth compared to the up front hop bitterness. The finish is sweet and wheatie.

På burk @ Brew Dog Bar. Ljust bärnstensfärgad. Luktar humle. Len och mju smak med en perfekt beska.

This isn’t my favorite DIPA, but its high ABV is well hidden. I don’t really care for the hop profile. It’s not as crisp as I like. The mouthfeel is sort of thick and sticky. Still a good DIPA and definitely a bit different than most.

Fat på Flying Scotsman. Dimmig bärnsten med en tvåfingerskrona smutsvitt skum. Doftar kåda och malt. Smakar humle helt enkelt! Inte så kraftig för att vara en dIPA dock. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Brownish orange in color. Piney and Hoppy aroma with hints of malt. Very hoppy taste with notes of citrus. Pretty good beer.

Transfer from BA review on 12-4-12- Served on tap in a 10 oz snifter Appearance – The beer is served a hazy yellow-orange amber color with a one finger white head that fades very quickly. Upon fading it leaves a decent level of lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is heavy of a grapefruit and light earthy hop aroma. Mixed with these are other sweet tropical fruit aromas as well as a light bready aroma. Taste – The taste begins with flavors of a bready flavor mixed with a good abundance of some grapefruit hop. The grapefruit hop remains strong throughout the taste with it collimating at the end. After the initial taste some sweeter tropical fruit flavors of a tangerine and orange nature come to the tongue. Some notes of a caramel nature also enter the taste as it moves on which in the middle and toward the end sweeten the brew quite a bit. In the end with the upsurge of more grapefruit and a lighter bitter earthy flavor end up bringing a nice bitter-sweet hop flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The thickness of the brew is on the slightly creamier side with a carbonation level that is a bit on the higher side. While normally I like a lower carbonation on a double IPA this on brew it is suited rather nicely by the higher carbonation as it is good for the sweeter body and the hop flavor blend of grapefruit and light earthy tastes. Overall – A pretty tasty double overall. A bit on the sweeter side but with a good balance of hop flavors.
