3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Picked up a four pack at Giant Eagle in Lancaster, Ohio. Pours a semi-clear golden amber colored brew with a decent sized and rocky off-white head that has some excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of citrus and pine hops. Man, I can pick up the hop scent two feet away from the glass. More aromas of grapefruit, raisin, and some tropical fruit. Taste is full bodied, fruity to the max, with some multi-grain malt and a touch of grapefruit juice. Finish is mildly bitter with more of a citrus and spicy hop aftertaste that slowly disappears. Pushing into the hoppy barley wine territory. I like the Energy Beverage sized can.

Rated based on notes taken 16 Jun 2012 -- Impressive IPA, very malty and hoppy. Both exerting themselves but in very different distinct ways. Good.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 12/22/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/amber color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, honey, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, honey, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, honey, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice robustness, complexity, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a great bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, resinous/sticky, and lightly creamy mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth to drink for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

3.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This may be one of the nicest looking beers I can remember pouring with a golden, light brown color and a frothy head. Definitely pick up a piney, spruce aroma - possibly, a little citrus. The taste is harder to describe beside the bitterness - which isn’t too overpowering. The piney/sprucey thing comes up with the taste as well. With 103 IBUs, this beer leaves an aftertaste. Not a beer to have when you’re having more than one but a neat beer for sure. Heard about it for a while and glad I finally had one.

Can at home. Clear orange pour, thin white head. Aroma of pine, resin, floral hops and very clean. Flavor is bitter, solid bodied hops. Nice and to-the-point IPA.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
DATE TASTED: June 12, 2015... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter... OCCASION: the last day of school as a full-time teacher...next stop, supervision! APPEARANCE: pours a clear, auburn body with promising carbonation; head forms like thick webbing that leaves lacing like tongues of fire; lacing creates continents... AROMA: I would read this in my best Butthead voice: "Uh, yeah...it’s like, resin and stuff..." A spruce tunnel burrows into the nose, with an evergreen cone that evokes Christmastime; melon arrives late, but citrus suggestions give the beer a rounded finish... PALATE: HEAVY, coating, warming body that clings at the teeth and blankets the throat; the finish is syrupy but not medicinal... TASTE: the hop cone phenomena has exploded in this, with fruity and spirited flavors--cherry, whiskey, and citrus fruits--building a stronger profile than first experienced.... OVERALL: a powerhouse of a canned beer that holds its 9.1 ABV close to its vest; singular in its resinous effect, but powerful, thick and affecting in its sipping...

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: light orange/brown color with a very small head.
Aroma: malt, caramel, light bitter citrus
Taste: similar to the aroma with more caramel and a bit more bitter.
Palate: Do I detect a little bit of non-bitter fruit? Refreshing, as per most of Sixpoint.
A more refreshing take on a DIPA, less hoppy than most, not a bad thing to be honest. Exactly as described, loosely a DIPA.
