It’s been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and we’re ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isn’t a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going ’round this winter. It isn’t our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. It’s a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA — but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

This is an excellent, high quality IPA. The palate is full and rich, the aroma is full of hops and pine, and the flavor is slightly sweet and nicely bitter. It is similar in character to the Bells Hopslam and much more readily available. This is definitely worth trying if you have the chance.

Little can. Pours a murky dark amber with a dense and creamy off white head. Big tangy sweet grapefruit nose. Creamy thick body with soft carb. Caramel and heavy grapefruit, very sweet but very crisp and refreshing. Bright in the back and not cloying.

Can to snifter. Clear golden pour with a frothy white head. Mix of floral hops and pine resin in the aroma. Flavor starts out nearly sour, fades out into a malty sweetness, then ends with the bitter hop punch you expect. Well hidden ABV, too.

Can from somewhere in Indiana. Way too bitter and acidic for me. I could barely finish this one and had a bad case of hop mouth afterwards.

At 103 IBUs, this starts out tasting almost unfiltered when cold but cleans up as the temperature levels out. Delicious.

Cor dourada, turva. Espuma boa, cremosa e persistente. Aroma intenso de lúpulo. No paladar notas frutadas e um toque herbal. Corpo médio. Retrogosto marcante e amargo. Bem equilibrada frente ao seu alto IBU.

This is really good but damn I didn’t look at the ABV, so that’s a helluva way to start a Sunday afternoon with boiled peanuts. Big ctrus tends to mango too. Bready malts are big but not overly sweet, Long citrus rind bitterness at the finish. Its big but balanced, lots o hops, lots o malt and surprisingly drinkable til you feel that ABV catch up to you.

Rated based on notes taken 16 Jun 2012 -- Impressive IPA, very malty and hoppy. Both exerting themselves but in very different distinct ways. Good.
