It’s been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and we’re ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isn’t a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going ’round this winter. It isn’t our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. It’s a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA — but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

pours golden amber with medium white head and some decent lacing. nose is all pine and citrus hoppiness. flavor is no surpise - serious spruce and citrus (mainly orange) hops, although not overwhelming. there’s definitely a somewhat sweet, malty presence, which helps add balance. finishes with more orange notes along with creamy malt, as well as a hint of bitterness. medium texture; not all that thick, but definitely quite sticky.

Tap at Green Dragon, Portland. Colour is clear orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, citrus, pine, hops and malts. Little bit of glueish.

Can split two ways. Clear copper pour with a medium head. Nose has some tropical fruits and pine needles. Taste is slightly sweet with a hop explosion, grapefruit, mango and some citrus. Refreshing stuff!

Kopparfärgad med litet vit skum. Doftar och smakar väldigt tropiskt med rejäll beska och lite alkoholsmak.

12 ounces can. Thanks Ben. Aroma: pines, grapefruits, tropical cities, citrus, caramel. App: clear copper with small white head and some lacing. Taste and palate: medium to full body, oily, light sweetness, aggressive high and long bitter finish. High carbonation. Overall: nose could be a little less soft, but the mouthfeel is way different, like a punch in the mouth. So tasteful and bitter. Well worth its cheap price.

Pours a clear amber. Nose is pine trees, citrus, a touch of dank hops. Taste starts off very smooth, juicy citrus, hop flavor, then becomes pine resin, moderate to high bitterness on the finish. I like this a lot. It's tasty, and aggressive.

Can at home. Pours a crystal clear copper orange with one finger of off white head. Aroma is strongly orange peel tangerine and some pine. Flavor follows with less orange. Nice malt backbone. Very bitter, maybe overly so. Alcohol was very noticeable. Some burn. Overall, a nice beer.

Can at the Wheaty. Pours clear brown amber with a large but short lived head. Sweet intense nose. Strong fruity sweet taste, clearly a DIPA. I can recommend that one.

12oz can pours a golden color with a bit of head. Mild over ripe apple flavors in the hops. Noticeable alcohol.

Nose has a soft hoppy profile with citrus and floral notes. A surprising initial hit of bubble gum as well! This is a very smooth, integrated and subtle double IPA. The hop profile is tasty but understated with no one hop taste element standing out. Subtle malts as well. A nice enough drink, but I can’t find the 9.1% abv or 103 IBUs anywhere.

Slim can poured into a snifter. Aroma not overpowering, some pine backed up by a mixture of floral and fruity, that I wish were more upfront because it is a rather appealing smell. Balanced IIPA taste, nothing comes out and whacks you on the palate on its own. Slightly sticky palate, malt backbone on the dry side of the middle. Overall a pretty good beer, drinks rather easy for a IIPA. Not a showstopper, but pretty good.
