COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and we’re ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isn’t a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going ’round this winter. It isn’t our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. It’s a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA — but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

Has a pretty dark auburn color. Smell is of piney hops. Holy hops, this beer is bitter. Pine, a touch of citrus and alcohol. I like hops but this beer has no balance to speak of. Overall a decent beer, but nothing great.

12 oz. can. It had not been refrigerated by Total Wine as requested on the label. Pours a medium, well retained, off white head, over a clear, amber (SRM 10) body.....nose is heavy hops with light pine, resin, citrus, including orange, tangerine, toasted malts, with cereal, biscuit, balance to the hops......taste is slightly sweet, toffee/caramel type cereal, with toast, biscuit notes, floral hop notes, with pine, resin, citrus, including tangerine, orange, leading to a moderate bitter finish.....mouth feel, medium body, alcohol warmth present, carbonation medium to low. After considering that this particular can was not stored by the purveyor as requested by the brewery, the whole paradigm shifted. The 103 IBU’s are a bit of a misnomer. Practically all of the hop contribution is in both aroma and flavor not in sheer bitterness. The malts are just present enough to give a bit of sweetness, and toasted malt aroma and taste. The complexity is lovely. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7

From the fridge pack of slim cans (6) starts out tasting almost like a hop oil which is very bitter, but after the first beer and the palate starts to adjust the tropical fruit flavors start to come through.

Floral and fruity fragrance. The taste is slightly fruity with a very bitter taste. Much bitterness in the aftertaste that fills the upper part of the mouth for a long while. Even a beer with too much bitterness. No thanks! Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Can: A clear golden color with a white head that leaves a small amount of lace around the top of the glass. Aroma is citrus and notes of pine, while the flavor is mostly grapefruit, piney resin and slightly orange. The texture is sticky with a bitter finish, but not as bitter as the 103 IBUs would make you think. The carbonation is light. Overall, a pleasant surprise.

From a 355ml can on 24/3/2015. Pours a clear golden with a biggish white head. The nose is lovely and a touch unusual, with lots of passionfruit and pineapple. Take a sip and it’s quite full on, with lots of sweet stone fruit (peach, apricot), tropical fruit (more passionfruit and pineapple), a good dash of bready malt, and masses of resiny hops at the back. This could not be named more appropriately. The texture tends towards syrupy and the carbonation is average. A very nice, slightly atypical DIPA.

Cannette. Merci Christian. Arôme de houblon frais, résine, conifère, un peu d’agrume. En bouche, herbes, houblons aromatique, un peu de caramel, fruitée. Finale avec amertume moyenne, légèrement sucrée. Très bonne.

Pours a pale, translucid beer, little head retention. Aroma is incredibly hoppy, with notes of pine, apricot, orange zest, mandarine and fuckin weed! Theres a noticeable malty backbone too. Taste is pleasantly bittersweet, really well hidden alcohol on this one. Finishes citrusy, resinous and warm. Excellent beer, great balance on this one.

Clear copper pour, thin clingy white top. Aroma of resin of course, but also fruit and malt. Tangy and powerful taste, with some malt sweetness in the middle, finishing strong and bitter. And bitter lingering.

Pour copper orange with a two finger off white head with excellent lacing. Aroma is of citrus (grapefruit & orange), resinous pine, tropical fruits, sweet malts, caramel, and some bready malts. Taste is citrus (a lot of orange), herbal hops, grassy hops, resinous pine, tropical fruits (mango and pineapple), bready malts, sweet malts, and some caramel. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a moderately bitter, semi dry, medium-long finish. Overall, a pretty tasty, well balanced east coast style DIPA that hides its high IBUs with a decent malt backbone.
