3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can at Momofuku in Toronto. A surprise to find this on the menu at a Toronto restaurant, as Sixpoint has never had any beer available up there previously - brought in as a private order, I guess. Pours a beautiful clear orange-gold with a snow white head that a lot of lacing. Aroma is excellent - sweet and bready malt, floral hops, a suggestion of lemon balm, all in balance. Crisp and clean body, just as the name suggests. Flavour is lovely, with floral, grassy & all-around snappy hops coming to the forefront without being too aggressively better. Maybe my surprise at finding it in an unexpected place has skewed my rating up by a couple of points, but itís still one of the best lagers Iíve had in ages.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From can. Pours a pale, clean yellow. Thin white head. Clean, grassy smell with some lemon zest and faint sulfur back notes. Taste is grassy with some cracker flavor from the malts, but mostly bitter and sharp. Hits the back of the tongue hard and lingers after swallowing. Think of this as Pilsener+ with everything heightened past expectations. This amplifying is mostly to the beerís benefit, but the added bitterness might turn away style purists.

Jack is back tasting at Bruceís. Can liberated from Spoons by Paul - cheers. Very light haze on this gold beer, small white head. Palate is light and airy and slightly dry. Fine carbonation. Floral start goes well with the lagerish malt. Touch of dry violets. Light dry finish with mild bitterness. Quite a floral pils.

Can shared at Bruceís. It pours pale gold with a small white head. The nose is soft, doughy, citrus peel, candied peel, floral and light must. The taste is doughy, light bitterness, grassy, light buttered bread, metallic twang and some grain with a dry, lightly bitter finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Alright.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford. Dark yellow with big proud white head. Lively carbs. Smell is a bit skunky. There are some nice grassy hops mixed in but they canít rise above the skunk. Taste is overall bitter with fleeting specks of fruity sweetness. Bitter as hell finish in the back of the tongue. There isnít a whole lot to separate this from some of the better US/UK macro lagers. I canít recommend.
