Draft. Amber orange pour with some tan head. Floral, herbal, spice, and citrus hop tones, in both nose and flavor, some light warming tones.

Draft at Alla Spina. Description ready "lightly smoked IPA"...very misleading. Nose of smoked meats, tobacco, menthol ciagrettes, mint flavored Skol. The only hops I picked up were herbal which I suppose is a good paring for the smoke. This is a smoked beer which might pair well with certain foods but on its own was very off putting. I could not finish this.

Draft from Whole Foods. This is a smoked pale ale, a little thin but good. Campfire smoke and snappy hops make for a very interesting brew.

Poured at Sixpoint tasting at Whole Foods Bowery Beer Room. Poured amber/golden in color with a small white head. The smokiness comes right through with hints of wood, malt and hops.

Tap at Paradiso Georgetown. Pours a full haze orange. Spotty lacing. Nose is thick bacon and rich smoke. Savory and dense. Taste is a bit medicinal, astringent, bitter, some plastic. A bit harsh with plastic, walnut shell bitterness and fatty meat. Not bad. Chemical back end.

Associated Supermarket, Bushwick, NY growler station ($9.69): Pours copper with a white head. Aroma is floral, smoky, with a hint of citrus. Taste is a combination of smoke and a moderate level of hops. The smokiness is done right, as it is neither too light or too heavy. This is somewhat sweet. "tis very drinkable and I jsut like smoke as a whole.

Enjoyed while waiting in line at Fette Sau in Brooklyn. The beer appears a hazy, copper orange color. The aroma offers smoke and hops - an odd marriage, even done well. An IPA with a bit of smoke in the finish. A creative endeavor, but perhaps an overwhelming task. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

draft at Dash In (Feb 18, 2012) - This beer should probably be listed as a smoked beer style. Anyway, it pours a hazy, honey color and has a good smoky aroma. The flavor is really dominated by the smoke, almost German rauchbier like, with a sweet malt background and a little hops bitterness. It’s medium bodied and has a dry, lingering smoky finish.

Tap from barcade. Poured gold, mild head, nice classic rauch aroma, pretty light mouthfeel/drinkable, some hops. Enjoyable.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 A: Hazy orange-amber body. Moderate sized white head, faint skim left on the glass. S: Yup, there is some smoke here... but not as much as I was expecting. Lemon-citric and grassy hops over top a soft malty body. T: The smoke is a bit more amped up, but not so much so that it drowns out the hops. Nice lemon-grassy hops. M: Medium bodied, appropriately carbonated, mild bitterness, a blt slick in the finish. O: I was pleasantly surprised by the balance between the smoke and hops that actually worked decently well.
