COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Sixpoint Spice of Life series is a celebration of one of the most popular but obscure plants on the planet - the hop. In this series, we release a new iteration of the same recipe every month- a total of 12 iterations per year. The recipe is for a straightforward American style IPA- brewed with only two different malts, a single hop varietal, and is fermented dry to accentuate hop flavor and aroma. We brew the exact same recipe every time with one interesting catch- each time we switch the hop strain. This method of adjusting one variable is called a "controlled experiment." But more important, it allows you to appreciate exactly how a different strain of hops can influence the flavor and aroma of beer!

Growler from Whole Foods. Sweet, floral aroma and a light brown pour without much of a head. The flavor is smooth, sweet, and malty, which shifts to a pleasantly sharp green tea bitterness.

Aroma of skunky hops. Nice full dark orange color. Sips slightly sweet with honey and lemon and hops. Nice brew

On tap pours cloudy orange, cannot see through it. Aroma is sweet malt with super grassy hops. Really old style hoppiness (circa 2006). Flavor is lesss sweet, some citrus and some light grass. Has a thicker mouthfeel. This hoppy beer seems dated, its not dry, its not sweet hops, its not tropical hops, its all just grass hops. Is Simcoe that boring, my memory fails me.

Sample at barcade, poured clear golden with not much head and lacing. Bland notes of simcoe, not skunky or tropical. Lots of pine and malt. Just an average IPA.

On tap at Untapped Dallas. Orange with a white head. The aroma is a mix of floral notes with some biscuit malt. The flavor is similar. I get a good bit of spice in the flavor as well as some floral character and some biscuit and caramel malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Draft, in Austin TX of all places. An orange beer, bright and alive. Thin top. Nice and floral, yet an easy drinker. Cloying dryness, but light and drinkable. Quite enjoyable. (#5240, 9/1/2013)

Sample at the DBLDP on 09/01/2013. The beer is a clear orange-gold color with a medium foamy white head that dissipates steadily to some wispy patches. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of hops, tropical fruit and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of citrusy hops, pineapple and toasted malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a floral hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

The aroma is caramel, wet mop, spicy. The appearance is cloudy amber, white head. The flavor is caramel, spicy, crackers. The finish is spicy hops. Medium in body. Ok, not remarkable.

Do I even need to describe this? The color is yellow and orange and pulpy. The white, foamy head lasts forever. The aroma is floral hop cone. The flavor is bitter and light pine. Eureka!
