argo0 (6144), Washington DC, USA Jul 12, 2005 (Growler, RBSG05) Clear golden body with off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, herbal, some lemon. Taste is medium sweet, herbal, some caramel, light lemon, fairly dry finish. Light-medium body. fiulijn (5860), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Jan 11, 2007 Draught at Five Point restaurant, NYC Hazy amber color. Simple Pale Ale, with some malt/caramel, but poor hopping and this one as well with the dirty water / tap water flavor. Rastacouere (5258), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jul 28, 2005 Highly effervescent deep orangey golden topped by a small white head. Buttery yeasty banana nose. Bready and fruity nature (peach, apricot) always in the sweetness department. Kinda ehavy on the butter this one. Sweet palate, coriander, bread and plenty of estery fruitiness play along joyfully. Soft palate, sweet and smooth with active yet easy going carbonation. CaptainCougar (4624), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jul 12, 2005 Growler sampled at the RBSG ‘05 bottle tasting courtesy of Dickinsonbeer: Pours a clear bright golden with a thin, lightly-lacing white head. Aroma is semi-sweet, lightly bready and mild. Body mimics the aroma with a touch of Belgian yeast and a little caramel maltiness and authenticity, but not much going on otherwise. Ernest (4197), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jan 6, 2006 RBSG 2005.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of banana and clove.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Light to medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation.
Typical American rendition of a Belgian - lots of banana/clove in the nose, on the sweet side. Slightly off aftertaste and rather light/watery.
