kujo9 (1044), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA May 10, 2008 Another beer from Larry (Goldtwins) in a 750 ML bottle: Smallish, lasting white head on a lightly hazed, deeply golden body. Smells like a tripel. Grainy and DMS cornlike malt character with a mild floral hop and peppery, fruity yeast. Some mild green apple, hints of juicy fruit gum, and toasty malt as it warms. Flavor is much the same with a lingering pleasant bitterness. Lightly sweet up front, but dries out quickly with toasty and grainy malt in the finish accompanied by some herbal and floral hops. Yeasty flavor is light compared to aroma, but still present. Aftertaste is lingering bitterness, fruity esters, and floral hop. Medium CO2, dry m/f, lighter body, almost chalky, with decently well hidden alcohol. A pretty decent tripel! 2nd beer from Sixpoint, and I’m becoming impressed. Very nicely complex, "lighter" beer, and very drinkable. Ughsmash (3071), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Apr 28, 2008 Thanks go to Larry for the growler! Poured brilliant orangey-golden with a thin layer of off-white head that didn’t stick around for long. The aroma was rich and deep with layers of pepper and clovey spices, honey, hibiscus, caramel, and sliced pears.. alcohol amplified, and all the elements blended seamlessly. Zesty pepper and floral bitterness struck the tongue first with warm, spice-accented maltage cascading afterward (I got a lot of honey and paler malts here).. peppery alcohol rises through the finish deaving a dry, lengthy impression. Dry and crisp on the palate with nice balance between the biting alcohol-infused spices and a well-chosed sweet base.. heavier-bodied with lower, small-bubbled carbonation. I really enjoyed this! jjpm74 (3087), Stratford, CT 06614, Connecticut, USA Apr 22, 2008 1/2 growler courtesy of Goldtwins. Pours gold with a thin white head. Smells of ginger, dry malt, sugar, roses, some spice, pepper, touches of citrus. Tastes dry with a nice peppery bite. Some spicy elements emerge as the beer warms. Mouthfeel is crisp. Finish is dry and yields some mild alcohol warmth. Enjoyable. goldtwins (3738), Nesconset, New York, USA Mar 21, 2008 Growler. Poured a hazy gold color with a hint of orange and an off-white head. The aroma had a fair amount of Belgian yeasty spice and biscuit sweet malt. Malty start to the flavor with spice in the middle. Medium bodied with some warmth. Hazy golden color, small white head. Fruity nose - some exotic fruits like carambola and lychee in the aroma. Very American-style tripel with lots of fruity yeastyness (mango, apricot). Medium-bodied. Nice alcoholic kick in the finish. Fireplace tripel. Just not too complex to get high 3’s.
