Bottle@Home. A few months past it’s BBD but I think this has done it much good. Port and licorice aroma. Very dark brown, light brown head, good lace. Port, dark malts, sweet, licorice, light bitter. Tasted aged but just a bit. Full and flavourful.

33cl bottle. Cap reads 5/11/08. Heavy aroma of moist brown sugar. Some mild apple cider vinegar tartness. Pureed prunes. Some stale dustiness underneath the sweetness. A bit of acetone, which is slightly surprising. Mostly, though, leaning toward the sweet side. Pours a dark brown, ruby highlights with a thin, but frothy dark khaki head. Flavor starts with some dark prune and raisin sweetness, loses all flavor mid-palate and finishes with some lightly roasted malt. Very, very light anise and brown sugar flavors are detected as well. Slightly on the thin side body-wise. Lively carbonation. Yeast pour yields a bit more spice on the finish, but adds nothing to the body. Upon warming, there is a hint of bakers chocolate found toward the finish. An unspectacular Dubbel (that may be past it’s prime). Thanks for the rare treat Amy!
