Flaska från Systembolaget . Svart men inget skum över huvud taget. Ovanligtmycket kolsyra för den här typen. Väldigt pepprig eftersmak vilket jag faktiskt gillar! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Dark look, brown to black in color, quickly dissipating tan head. The smell is almost metallic, vegetal, pepper, chocolate, and some roast. The taste is roast, some heat, pepper, chocolate, and ok.

Can from Sam’s, Durham. Surprisingly good, this one was a bit thin in the body but the mouthfeel was full enough (if slightly waxy). Chocolate everywhere, more like a bold brown or a porter than a stout (woulda been nice if the base was foreign or dry stout) but the choc combines well with the pleasant heat from the chiles. I’d happily have a couple of these on a chilly evening.

Arrives from the tap with no head, and a concentrated brown color. The beer smells of cocoa powder, cinnamon, brown sugar and a fruitiness that makes me think of dried, red chiles (Anchos). Underneath this are softer, roasted malt notes, but really the cinnamon is clearly the dominant character of this beer. As the beer warms up a nice, toasted / roasted nutty note starts to come out.

Fairly light bodied and dry up front, the beer picks up a soft sweetness, lots of cinnamon flavors, a touch of cocoa, and cold coffee in the finish, as well as a touch of heat; the heat could almost be attributed to the cinnamon, but I do think there is a soft chile heat here. The beer has a prickly carbonation which couples well with the lightly viscous, quaffable, but full enough beer. Flavors of browned, amply toasted, whole grain bread add a nice base note to the more prominent flavors. Notes of vanilla seem to be suggested here, and this couples well with the light cocoa notes and the ample cinnamon. The more I drink of this beer, the more apparent that it is chile spiced; there is a nice, lingering, but quite light, heat that sticks with the palate as I consume this beer. Soft, toasted nut flavors are contributed by the dark malt notes.

I would have preferred a bit more restrained use of cinnamon here, with more chocolate and chile flavors, but really this is quite an enjoyable beer as is. Really makes me want to brew an Imperial Stout riff on the traditional dark mole.

Shared with my girlfriend. Ca 1" beige head that disolves extremly qiuck, black body with at tint of red. Nose: Chili, coffee, chocolate, cinnamon, cloves, licorice, plum, smoked notes, flowery notes and vanilla. Aroma: Chocolate, cinnamon, chili, cloves, more chili, coffee, cardamom, meat notes, smoked notes, licorice, bread, anis and a hint of sea salt. Quite thin body, long ending with a burning chili-sensation

Very low carbonation. Dark color with almost purplish highlights. Aroma is very light. Chili flavor is prominent but not overpowering; base is a mild stout. Very nice and drinkable.

This beer could’ve been less overdone and I don’t think I could take more than one of these a week, but no one will deny that this is an interesting beer. Oily texture, surprisingly weak body, but the flavor and aroma are all mole. Lots of spice, some chile heat, but mostly chocolate. Tried at Dempsey’s Pub in Lawrence in 2012.

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a small tan head. Aroma that I guess can be called spicy if you really stretch it. Flavour is not nice. I do love spiciness and chili and had some hopes for this beer. It didn’t live up to them, or to anything else for that matter. Really disappointed.
