3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Didnít go in with the hugest expectation, but this one really surprised me in a very good way. Pours dark brown with a tan head. The aroma has dark cocoa, roasted malt, fresh pepper spice, cinnamon, cream and vanilla - quite lovely overall. Medium / thin body with a modest amount of somewhat soft carbonation. The flavor starts with a nice blend of smooth roasted malt, cocoa nibs and phenolic spice. the finish some the light heat and meatiness of the peppers. There is a hint of the spices used, but I canít point out exactly what is there except that it seems to show some cinnamon. Really tasty.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This beer was a big surprise. BIG Surprise. Pours a medium stout brown with a tan head. Nose is earthy peppers, some roasted malts, and cocoa with chocolate, and earthy spices. Flavor is earthy peppers right in the front with roast, cocoa, chocolate, and spices. Medium in body and lingering earthy spices in the finish. At 5.5% if this was around me, I would drink the hell out of this beer. Top-notch.

Enjoyed on tap at Rockwellís in Chicago, IL while waiting to pick up food. Very interesting and delicious. Appearance is pitch black, moderate thickness with a thin off white head. Aroma of cocoa, cinnamon, spices, and chocolate. Taste is rich with cocoa nibs and has a very very light touch of spice from the peppers. Great stuff, hope to have again.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can. Poured a pitch black color with a smaller tan head. Beer did leave plenty of lacing on the glass as it went. Aroma was milk chocolate, some funk and peppers. Initial flavor was that of a stout. Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee. Finishes with the peppers. Light burn. Interesting beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz can. Poured pitch black. The aroma is pretty full and pulsing chili pepper and then with some modest malts in the background. The taste is much the same with solid chili pepperness and modest chili pepper heat. I can taste the skin of these here chili peppers. It tastes like theyíre the green ones. It leaves a nice little peppery burn into the after taste. I liked it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can: Pours a black with a small tan head that quickly disappears. The aroma is sweet with a bit of chocolate and hints of the chilies. I think itís the Anchos that come through the most. The taste is sweet, almost a sweet (milk) stout. The cocoa is strong but the chilies are subdued. I would like to see a little more heat to balance out the sweetness. The mouthfeel is about perfect, a lite to medium feel. Overall I like this beer and a little more chili would make it great.
