(12oz can) clear brown, little to no head. Nose of smoky chiles, cinnamon, brown sugar, spicy, awesome. Taste of smoke, sweet chile, bits of roasted pepper, chocolate, really easy to drink, bit of lactose. Nice.

Can. Black pour with a tall, brown head. Aroma is cocoa, peppers, dark chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is cinnamon, peppers, dark chocolate, roasted malt and spices. Body is medium with a soft, creamy carbonation and a moderate heat from the peppers. Finishes with more peppery notes, dark chocolate, roasted malt, cinnamon notes, cocoa and spices.

Black, with a loose white head. Smells like chocolate and cinnamon. Chocolate and cinnamon flavor, too. I’m gonna say pralines? Is that an acceptable descriptor?

0.355 l bottle at Vihreä Haltiatar, Jyväskylä. Dark reddish brown color with instantly vanishing head. Slightly sweet woody cocoa and chili aroma with perfumed spiciness (cinnamon and clove). Taste of cocoa, licorice, cola, black pepper, clove, cinnamon and peppermint. Medium body, slightly woody palate with long lasting tingling spiciness. Chili tastes clearly but heat is low, nice. Quite complex. 1/2 feels good amount to drink, full bottle alone is a bit too much.

Okay, so I bit on this one despite my general aversion to SKA products, mostly because I love stouts with cocoa/chocolate and/or peppers and there are so few of them out there - pour is clear dark brown - initially fizzy, but quickly turns headless and almost still, looking like flat cola - interesting nose, with a complex mix of cinnamon, anise, dates, light cocoa, a hint of smoke, perhaps from the peppers, but no pepper character to speak of - carbonation is low to non-existent and the beer is thin and flabby in the mouth, which is a damn shame because there are some good things happening here - some lactose sweetness up front - followed by drier notes of cocoa, moderate cinnamon, some tartness, date, raisin - slight heat on the tongue, but the spiciness really comes through as a strong warmth at the back of the throat - some interesting and enjoyable individual parts, but as a whole it is a little weak - seems like an attempt to replicate Copper Kettle Mexican Chocolate Stout (suspiciously so, like they were literally trying to copy it) - Copper Kettle’s is much better and quite a bit spicier.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Almost black with no head. A lot of spices in this one, ginger and some cinnamon. Also pepper, licorice, ash and chili. A lot of carbonation. A strange beer, hard to rate.

This beer was a big surprise. BIG Surprise. Pours a medium stout brown with a tan head. Nose is earthy peppers, some roasted malts, and cocoa with chocolate, and earthy spices. Flavor is earthy peppers right in the front with roast, cocoa, chocolate, and spices. Medium in body and lingering earthy spices in the finish. At 5.5% if this was around me, I would drink the hell out of this beer. Top-notch.
