Like this, surprised with low rating. Love the oak, aged sweet flavor. I think this sat for awhile. Can't taste much hops. Diggin it!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a clear amber with thin white head. aroma is funky veg, caramel, toast and tropical fruit. Medium to full bodied, foamy. Very sweet initially, big toffee/caramel then some pineapple/mango fruitiness and there is a bitterness to finish if you wait long enough, but this is sweet and syrupy more than anything else. OK.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice rich amber coloured body with a copper glow and a good, relatively fast-dying tan head. Aroma of alcohol, hops, honey, pit fruits, apricots, pears and a bunch of earthy malts. Medium-bodied; Strong sweet flavour with tons of fruits, alcohol, caramel, rich earthiness and a pungent hoppiness at the end. Aftertaste shows a lot of sugars, some good malt flavours, a bunch of fruit notes and hints of hops - but not much at all. Overall, this is almost more akin to a belgian tripel than an Imperial IPA - tons of sugars with not that much hops, but the underlying alcohol flavour that drives the beer and sort of takes away from it’s complexity. Perhaps worth trying, but not different enough from a lot of other similar beers to really go out of the way for it. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased a few minutes ago at Binny’s in Chicago, Illinois (S Jefferson) for US$6.49 sampled in my hotel room here in Chicago, Illinois on 21-August-2013.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 9/20
Aroma of caramel, tropical fruit, with the slightest hint of pine. A clear medium amber pour with a thin, rapidly dissipating, white head and no lacing. The taste is a pleasant combination of malt sweetness and hop bitterness - both seem to be happening at the same time, which is an interesting experience. Tropical fruit and sweet malts with a bitter finish and aftertaste, and perhaps some minior alcohal warmth thrown in the mix. Medium body and medium carbonation. Oveall, a nicely balanced IIPA.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Never really been a huge Imperial IPA fan, but this brew most definitely changed that perception the first time I had it a few years back. Re-visited this brew recently and remembered how amazing it is. Scary drinkable, great hop presence with a solid malt backbone. Extremely balanced and boozy in the best way possible.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear dark gold body with a fleeting off-white head.
Minimal aroma of sweet malt and flowery hops.
The flavor is well balanced but not too bitter and not much sweetness.
Full bodied but not impressive.
