3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a can, pours black with a fairly large light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt predominantly, wood and dark chocolate. Flavour brings out notes of dark chocolate, roasted malts and wood upfront, with little notice of the oak or grape juice, at least until the grape juice shows up on the finish. Very smooth, chocolatey palate, and very well-balanced. Much better than the average ratings would have you believe. Great stuff.

Smells like a normal stout Roast, chocolate, with a flicker of grapes. Nice black with light brown head. Taste is awkward combo of roasty oaked stout with some grape flavor in the middle.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark like motor oil. Darkest head I can remember seeing. Thick foamy head. Oak. This is not what beer in a can looks like (I am smiling). Smooth and malty (but not overly sweet). I canít believe this is 8%, I canít taste any alcohol. Somewhere between roasted and burnt. Very impressive. I canít remember having a better stout. i want to give it a 5.

Tap. Dark ruby pour with tan head. Nose is coffee, earth, dirt. Flavor is earth, light coffee. Lots of residual sugars. Odd.

Pour on tap at Rackhosue pub, thick black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of dark chocolate, oak, touch of dark cocoa powder mixing into dark red fruits with red grape, hints of roast, slight wine notes. Taste is a mix of a dark fruit, chocolate, roast, hints of red fruit, grape, hints of roast, coffee, finishing fairly sweet, slightly oaky.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours deep mahogany with cocoa head. Pleasant nose with nuts and berries. Medium bodied and silky on the tongue with immediate bittersweet chocolate malt moving to a wine and currant bite. Finishes with a fruitcake taste and slight alcohol burn. A modest yet interesting stout.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Typical near-black appearance for a stout; very small head, but good lacing. Aroma is faint, but cocoa is present, and some of the grape juice is also. Medium-bodied, sweet, highly drinkable brew. Not quite as flavorful as I was expecting, but pleasant enough.

Holy smokes thatís good! Hereís the gist; start with an excellent English style stout, than age that beauty in oak with Malbec grape. Rich, malty, beautiful head and legs, glossy deep black/brown. Iím going back for more.
