3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This beer is black with a minimal tan head, which dissipates quickly, when poured into a snifter, and the aroma is subtle and earthy. The taste is interesting as it is a slightly sweet, slightly salty, and mildly umami, yet the palate is a combination of a medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation, and a sudden finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz can with fun artwork pours an opaque black with a tan head that keeps nice lacing. Aroma begins with big time banana runts, damascanone, and purple drink. Flavor is roasty upfront, with more banana runts and purple drink coming through. Not getting much oak character. Thought it might be a bit more complex. It’s aight.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz can. Pours an opaque, deep brownish ’stouty’ color, with a nice rocky-top mocha colored head, decent retention and excellent lacing. Nose is mainly roasted barley, some coffee and cocoa. Mouth is moderately sweet, medium bodied and smooth, with lots of roast a hint of wood and a faint trickle of that Malbec quality imparted by the grape juice. A pleasant brew for a cold February eve on Chicago’s South Side. Turn up your Satellites and skank to da rhythm!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can; poured a very dark brown with a medium light brown head. Aroma of leather, meat, roasted malt, caramel, wood, with a lot of grape/fruit in the finish. Not sure what the grape addition and wood aging added, but the final product was solid. Fairly roasted and leathery up front, gives way to a more vinous note, slightly sugary finish. A solid beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The pour looks great, large pillow of a head over an opaque body.
The aroma shows the oak and light roast with a hint of lactose and anise.
The flavors show the grape a bit more then the aroma did, particularly on the finish which gets creamy and jammy. The initial roast at the start fades out, really evolves on the palate really interesting. oak comes in at the mid point and the tannins start to clean it up.
interesting, it’s interesting and good. I’ll buy another can or five.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. can poured viscously to a Czech-pils glass at Lunar Brewing Co., showing a black/brown hue, a moussy/cakey, brownish tan layer of head foam, and curtainy cling to the lacing. The aroma was very roasty, equally expressive doses of coffee & cocoa, smooth malt, and a touch of sweetness. Medium to full bodied with decent carbonation, the flavor was the aroma notes plus a touch of dark fruit, some vinous nature, and maybe a little too much dry, tanniny acridity into the finish, imo.

If you don’t read the can close enough, you can buy a grape stout thinking its just a stout. I don’t know why anyone would do this.
It pours nearly black with a brown head, darker than most stouts. Smells good. Thin mouthfeel. At the first taste, it’s not too bad, but the finishing taste begins to get tarter and tarter, more wine-like.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a can...dark brown color and a brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, vinous notes, cherry and grape notes. Flavor is sweet but finishes a bit tart. Good toasted malts, maybe a hint of licorice.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Can from Total Wines. Black pour, tan head with lacing. Mild aromas of rasins and dates, with some malts and chocolate in the background. Toasty malt flavors with wood and some coffee, a mild sweetness with the grape flavors thankfully in the background. Dry mild vinous finish. Overall a smooth beer with moderate well blended flavors.

Pours a deep almost black with a smaller creamy tan head that left sticky lacing on the sides of the glass. Aroma of molasses, dark chocolate, red wine and caramel. Flavor of oak, red wine, molasses, chocolate and caramel.
