4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Maria’s. Pours black with a dark brown head. Nose is full of oak, berry fruits, cocoa, vanilla. Clean and rich. Noted wine character. Fruity. On tasting, interesting tart grape note. Currants and some tannin. Low sweetness and fruity. Cocoa and drying finish. Really cool beer.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can. Pours an opaque brown-black with hints of red highlights and a high, tan, coarse-grained head. Nose is mostly smoke, cinnamon, vanilla and coffee; there might be a slight hint of dark fruit. On the tongue, it’s sweet with low carbonation; vanilla latte, nutmeg, and just a touch of wine. It has layers of spicy complexity that deepen the longer it stays in the mouth; an amazingly long, rich, and multifaceted finish that keeps changing. Very, very interesting.

On tap at wine 101 in wake forest. Not as sweet as I thought it would be and I was happy about that. Overall a great stout that does not overpower your tastebuds.
