3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a black with an average tan head that fades rather quickly. Aroma is roasted malt, grape, coffee, and a little bit of chocolate. Its a good combination, but it is more subdued. There is nothing held back in the taste, though. It is strong and bold. Lots of chocolate with a good mixture of grape. Woody flavors, a decent amount of coffee, and some vanilla undertones are here as well. It is a little on the sweet side, but not overly so. Medium in body, while the texture is thick and somewhat oily. The aftertaste is mostly chocolate with some of that appealing grape. This one is different, and more unusual that some people might not like it. I think its good. It seems that SKA makes some very interesting stouts.

Can I had while Jenny and I watched late 90s movie #1: There’s Something About Mary. Pours midnight black with frothy and rocky dark khaki head. Aroma has mild chocolate syrup notes, some wood, prune. Flavor is slightly nutty and oaky with dark chocolate syrup notes. Slightly vinous in the finish, although it could be the mighty power of suggestion. Either way, this is the beer Guinness should be.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Black with tan head that dies out soon. Aroma is chocolate and burgandy wine. Taste is chocolate, raisons, wine, bitter, dry, not that desirable. While it is OK it is far from the best tasting stout. Then again I am not a hugh fan of wine so maybe that is what is killing this one for me. Glad I got just the one can.

This one poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma was of roasted malt and dark fruits. Flavor similar, not.much oak, some chocolate. A bit strange.

"I really dug this, even though it was technically a month past it’s best by date. Big roasted stout, really nailed the export style well. Robust without being hot or alcoholic or the least bit cloying. Oak and dark grapes come through just a little in the finish and add a layer of compexity. Solid."

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2015 From Beer Temple. The oak isn’t as prominent as I would have thought, the malbec, give it an interesting tartness at the end. Weird or great, I’m going to give it the benefit of the doubt. Serving: Can
