Can, at Beercade Emporium in May. Stoutish color, but illuminated by a bit of purple. Smelly is mostly rich cocoa and roasty malt. A very roasty tasting stout, too, but tempered by some grape juice. Keeps the overall beer kind of sweet and lets the grape play pretty well, in polace of the lactose of a milk stout. Unique!

Can I had while Jenny and I watched late 90s movie #1: There’s Something About Mary. Pours midnight black with frothy and rocky dark khaki head. Aroma has mild chocolate syrup notes, some wood, prune. Flavor is slightly nutty and oaky with dark chocolate syrup notes. Slightly vinous in the finish, although it could be the mighty power of suggestion. Either way, this is the beer Guinness should be.

Black with tan head that dies out soon. Aroma is chocolate and burgandy wine. Taste is chocolate, raisons, wine, bitter, dry, not that desirable. While it is OK it is far from the best tasting stout. Then again I am not a hugh fan of wine so maybe that is what is killing this one for me. Glad I got just the one can.

This one poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma was of roasted malt and dark fruits. Flavor similar, not.much oak, some chocolate. A bit strange.

"I really dug this, even though it was technically a month past it’s best by date. Big roasted stout, really nailed the export style well. Robust without being hot or alcoholic or the least bit cloying. Oak and dark grapes come through just a little in the finish and add a layer of compexity. Solid."

Had from a can at The Green Eye in Chicago. Pours very dark brown with a mocha head. Aroma is chocolate malted milk. Slight fruitiness. Heavy bodied. Really nice. Sweet finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

black with about a finger and a half of tan head that dissipates to the edges and leaves good lacing. aroma is roasted malt and ash. Flavor is roast, ash, dark fruit, and some chocolate. mouth feel is a little thin for a stout, with medium carbonation.

From Beer Temple. The oak isn’t as prominent as I would have thought, the malbec, give it an interesting tartness at the end. Weird or great, I’m going to give it the benefit of the doubt. Serving: Can

Can thanks to Ben, Cheers! Thick black pour, with a thin layer of chocolate head. Aroma is sour grapes, light roast, and tartness, interesting for sure. Taste is not nearly as tart as the aroma would suggest, up front there is some light roast, towards the middle there is some tartness , finishes with a bit of anise, aftertaste is lingering light tartness with roast. Really cool beer, I thought it would be a sour stout from the aroma but not so, there is still plenty of roast and richness, mixed in with the mild tartness from the grapes.

Tap somewhere in Asheville. Pretty neutral, inoffensive nose. Blueberry and cigarette ash. Moderate caramel. Smoked tea leaf flavor. Roasted malts, wood. Some pear and dark forest fruits. Medium body, average carbonation.
