3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Purchased at Go Grocer in Wicker Park, enjoyed at a friends house while playing board games. Appearance is a thick black with a thin white head that laces to the glass. Aroma of light grape juice, not much chocolate, rather faint. Taste is very creamy and smooth, sweetness from grape juice, light bitterness. Not bad.

3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at wine 101 in wake forest. Not as sweet as I thought it would be and I was happy about that. Overall a great stout that does not overpower your tastebuds.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
poured a very dark brown with a medium light brown head. Aroma of leather, meat, roasted malt, caramel, wood, with a lot of grape/fruit in the finish. Not sure what the grape addition and wood aging added, but the final product was solid. Fairly roasted and leathery up front, gives way to a more vinous note, slightly sugary finish. A solid beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at The Thirsty Monk. Pours a deep coffee brown with a small beige head. Aroma of toasted malts, nuts, chocolate, earth, and dusty oak; not much of the grape juice is noticeable. Flvaor of chocolate, cola, toasted malts, earth, and burnt sugar. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, smooth mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Smooth and a little dusty and earthy, but the grape juice is really subtle here.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Who knew that SKA Brewery that puts out mainly lagers and IPA’s would find the time to put out a stout, but they did. Dark hue. Foamy head and lace. Chocolaty taste. Hints of cocoa and sweetness. Full-bodied. I would have liked to have seen them take this one further with more booze but it works well. Definitely a winter or a cool springtime beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma- Chocolate, some roastiness, vanilla
Appearance- Motor oil, dark tan 1 finger head
Taste- Huge hop flavor at the front of the tongue, middle dark bitter chocolate, coffee, caramel, bourbon notes, finish is bitter, roasty, dry coffee
Palate- Full-bodied, motor oil thickness
Overall- Overall, this is an excellent imperial stout. I don’t pick up any of the malbec grape juice, but I think that’s a good thing. I would definitely buy it again.
