It’s Old Man Bitter

A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.

An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.

Modus Hoperandi, an IPA sitting at 6.8% ABV and 65 IBUs.

Can from Cellarbrations at Carlisle. Brilliant looking beer, orange/golden colour with a small white head. It lacks a little in flavour for me, it seems to be all about the IBU. Not a bad beer and I'm glad I could try it from a can but doesn't stand up to some of the better American IPA offerings.

A gift from Dan. Bronze colour, mildly cloudy with nice yellowish head. Fruit malt and hops in the aroma. Malt, flower and then extreme hoppy mildly burned malty aftertaste, that was almost overwhelming in the beginning but develops into a nice one.

Ravfarget mot rødt med lavt hvitt skum. Lukter grapefrukt og granbar. Smaker sitrus med mye bitterhet. Kunne vært bedre balansert.

Can. Amber with an off white head that lasts pretty well. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, sticky bread crusts, some spices. Lowish carbonation. Very sweet with lots of caramel and some bread, peaches. Some citrus, but it struggles to get pasts the sweetness; pine cuts through. Fairly bitter at the end. Big resinous hoppy beer that’s a bit too sweet but pretty good.

Canned on 11/28/14. Pours a clear golden ruby color with a very sizeable frothy orange tinged head. Very nice lacing. Aroma is an explosion of hops. Lots of orange, grapefruit, lemon, little bit of malt. Flavor is malt and citrus up front intertwined very well. Not overly hop forward or overpowering. Very balanced. Sweet orange, grapefruit and malt biscuit backbone. Little bit of caramel as well. Excellent IPA.

Grabbed a 6-pack of this in Grand Junction before heading off into the wastelands of Utah. I was looking for something nice and hoppy and this delivered in spades. Big pine and citrus. Dry and bitter finish. Really nice stuff.

Hazy orange copper pour. Big creamy off white head. Plenty of lacing. Orange and caramel malt nose. Taste is pretty much the same. Nice malty backbone, nice citrusy hop punch.

Favorite go-to IPA. The blend of citrus, pine is well balanced and the smooth back palate feels like the beginning of a double IPA. Raymee.com does this can art as a fridge magnet.

The appearance, when poured from a bottle, is an excellent copper amber color with nice carbonation. The aroma has hints of fruit with floral notes and a slight hop aroma. The taste is hoppy with a pleasant mouth feel and a nice crisp, hoppy bitter finish. This is an excellent IPA with strong character.

Keg at the cock tavern hackney. Clear light amber / dark orange coloured pout with a lasting creamy off white head. Aroma is caramel / toffee, burnt grass hop, clean ferment. Touch of apple on the nose as well. Flavour is nice caramel malt, biscuit, grassy cascade american c hop. Lingering pine and caramel hop. Very clean cal ale ferment. Little berry lingers. Palate is medium light body with semi sweet caramel and highish carbonation. Tasty beer.
