COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Itís Old Man Bitter

A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.

An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.

Modus Hoperandi, an IPA sitting at 6.8% ABV and 65 IBUs.

Donít think this beer has travelled well as the hops while evident are very muted.

This is a good example of an US IPA. It has a dual hit of character with desserty stonefruit-like malts and then riotous spruce and redwood hoppiness. It is all at once sweet and bitter with a good slick body. Plenty to like here.

Bottle from SB. Nice amber color, good aroma. An IPA that is easy to drink, good!

Can best before March 28, 2015.
Glass: New Belgium globe.
Appearance: Hazy amber body with a dense light tan head that compliments the base nicely.
Aroma: Aroma is tea like with a malt forward vibe to it. Hints of grapefruit on the nose, but this smells like itís a bit past itís date despite the best by on the can.
Taste: Mild to moderately bitter, a bit of malt, but crisper than I expected. Some floral and pine flavors with some grapefruit pith and black tea lingering after the sip.
Palate: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Iím thinking that this is past date, the hop profile tastes a bit past its freshness and the malts are a bit forward. Please breweries switch to a bottled/canned on date!

Pours hazy medium amber with one finger of off-white head diminishing gradually to a thin skim, spotty lacing. (4/5) Nose is piney resin, pithy citrus, mild caramel malt, faint tropical fruit. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, moderately strong bitter. (7/10) Medium body, moderate to low carbonation, building bitter finish. (4/5) A fairly emphatic A/IPA that comes pretty close to a DIPA in pretty much every regard: intensity of flavour, ABV, IBUís (65), colour, and body. Although itís not malt forward by any means, the malt is lurking not far under the surface, and I expect this one could get fairly caramelly, fairly quickly, as it ages. As it stands, though, itís a nice, sharply bitter IPA with good support from the malt. (15/20)

Dark copper pour with fluffy white head from a can. Sharp bitter attack. Pine resin and spruce. Bitter astringent finish that lingers. Very focused and nice hop loverís IPA.

Pours hazy amber with a small white head and good lacing. A strong resin aroma from the bottle and then some tropical fruit and honey from the glass. The honey was quite strong with some cardboard, but I am assuming the beer wasnít that fresh as I got it in Sweden. A very drinkable IPA.
