It’s Old Man Bitter

A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.

An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.

Modus Hoperandi, an IPA sitting at 6.8% ABV and 65 IBUs.

Amber, wafer thin white head. Grass, lemon, pine, some malt poking through the alcohol. A bit watery on the palate with long bitter finish. Very strong and hoppy.

Superior, Co. - Superior Liquors - 12 oz can...last of my take homes from Colorado....sad. Deep dark copper, slightly murky with a thick sticky off white head that leaves plenty of lacing. Fresh resiny spruce-like aroma, brief wisp of cat urine - but not overpowering.Bold, fresh flavor - fresh bitter grapefruit, some caramel maltiness, a hint of nuttiness. Thick rich mouthfeel.

Can. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy hop and small malt aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bitter finish of medium to long duration. This a very good brew.

12 oz can pours copper in color with a full, creamy head. Dry hop aroma, lots of resiny pine, some malt. Medium bodied, with a nice drinkability. A little bitter to the palate with a slightly metallic aftertaste, this one maybe suffers a little coming out of the can. Still a very good IPA.

My personal favorite so far! Strong hop and pine scent leaving a long and strong pine and grapefruit on the palate which is pretty bitter

It bursted out of the can upon opening pouring a 2-3 finger head and fitting perfectly in my pint glass like most beers dont. Clear reddish copper beautiful color. It has a very creamy almost all white head with loads of lacing with a complex aroma of herbal floral, fruit, spice, peppermint, and sweet malt. The hop flavor is more dominant in herbal/resinony pinewith the same complex flavor of fruit/floral ,mint and sweet malt and a good amount of roasty malt. An overall taste makes it seem minty.Bittering fades shortly but leaving pine in your mouthThis has a very good hop profile with sweet caramel roast malt, a delicious good tasting ipa

[9/23/11] Mahleket Hanikot Shotrim ’11 tour. Can at Sorbon in Bromma. Slightly hazy amber with a small off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma of flowers, some citrus and some resin. Flavor has a bit of sweetness, light grainy hints and bitter hoppy finish with resin and grapefruits. Medium-bodied. Quite nice.

On tap at Whirleyball in Vernon Hills. Pours orangey amber with a bit of a head. Aroma is citrus fruit, pine, floral hops. Taste is fruity hops, pine, smooth with nice malt back. Sticky. Finishes long and well balanced; bitter and sweet malty. Very nice!

355ml can paired with mild spiced meat at Olympen. Unclear, dark amber body. Moderate white head that left fine artworks on the glassware. Aromatic with floral and fruity hops. Lovely taste of dark oranges, grapefruits and pine needles added by herbal hops and a touch of sweet malts. Solid bitter support to the finish. Prima version of an IPA (Oslo, 26.09.2011).

Carmel orange reddish color, pure white bubbly foam head, medium carbonation. Smells spicy with strong hopsy pine/citrus notes. Very thin, very easy drinking. Citrusy american hops flavor, the red wheat adds a nice balance to the bitterness. This is the best canned IPA I have ever drank. Great example of the American take on the India Pale Ale.
