3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a thick looking amber color with a small white head. The nose is mostly citrus and piney hops. The taste is bitter earthy piney hops and some malts to balance it out. Overall itís a good IPA. Itís better than average, especially for something found in a can, but it wonít knock your socks off. A bit too piney for me.

3.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2010 Good IPA with an amazing pine aroma. I know itís 7% ABV, but it seems a little too malty for an IPA, and the hops is not quite there for me...and the mouth feel is a tad off.

If pouring Surly brews has taught me anything, itís that CANNED MICROS deserve to be savored FROM THE CAN! I personally donít think it does the brew much justice to be poured if it was originally in aluminum. This goes for Surly, Oskar Blues, AND Ska. + Anyone else with a major canning line. If you have a 6er, pour some, drink some. But otherwise, FUCK the appearance. Leave it where they put it.
A - Into glass, piney caramel. Big pine and sweet malt. Can leaves some sugary candy smells. More pine. Pretty damn nice either way. No "10". But good.
A - Dark caramel colored amber out of can. Otherwise, for a micro, Iím a sucker for cans. The art is pretty cool. Into glass, leaves a nice rocky off-white foamy head.
F - Caramel. Pine. Sweetness. Hops. Maltiness makes a nice play here, as well. Caramel and pale taste. And a lemon/lime presence as far as citrus.
P - Leaves a solid bite, period. Nice floral and citrus presence all around. Hell. Even Hopslam is only 70 IBUS. This does a great job. Starts out with a thin, prickly, drinkable malt and citrus character, then slaps the tongue with a dry citrus linger. Drinkable, drinkable, drinkable.
O - I will rant, but I will not rave. This is a well done IPA in my books. Exceeds my standards. And Again, Iím a sucker for a can. Although Iím NOT a big Ska fan, their Pinstripe and Ten Pin opened my eyes to the micro world. Me likes.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
(can) Orange-copper color with some small sediment in suspension. Definitely has a hop presence that lingers, but the flavor is a bit thin otherwise.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Excellent aroma of sweet citrus gum and candy. Pours nice with a significant head - very foamy yet tight. Quite appealing. Flavor lacks what is to be expected from the nose. Strong metallic bite and off kilter bitterness on the finish. Almost sour when it shouldnít be.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at WBF. Clear amber with medium white head. Aroma of pine, earth and caramel. Taste is medium bitterness. Nice IPA, medium carbonation, bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear amber color, head of mixed bubbles that leaves a lattice of lace as it diminishes. There is something real satisfying in opening a can of beer and smelling a big rush of American hops. The nose here is dominated by piny aromas w/ a little husky malt around the edges. The flavor too has that astringent husky character reminiscent of iced tea which is something I rather like and is complimented by sweetness and a very slight tartness that is enough to give the impression of lemon. Palate is creamy and somewhat light, maybe just a tad lacking carbonation. Finishes really smooth w/ more piny hops. A very nice IPA.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a short thick head. Really nice hop aromas with notes of peaches, pine and some doughy yeast. Palate is medium and oily. Flavor is somewhat sweet with loads of fruity hops and a lingering finish. Definitely hop-forwrad on this one. Overall not so balanced yet a very nice hoppy IPA.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 8, 2011 12 oz can. Pours a deep amber gold color with a small off white head. Aroma is very piney, hop forward of course, some caramel. Didnít get as much of the citric as other people itíd seem, maybe it was a bit old. Very straightforward on the hops though, a little bit grassy. Flavor starts with a small sweet toffee character but quickly goes bitter, and stays that way through the finish. It felt like a lot more than 70 IBU. Finishes with the sharp pine, maybe a little bit of citric, but not much. The bitterness lingers for a bit. Medium body and a crisp carbonation. Nice IPA, not easy drinking, but nice for hop heads.
Rerate: 08/07/11 Had a very fresh can. Much better, piney herbal weedy hops, very good stuff.
