It’s Old Man Bitter

A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.

An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.

Modus Hoperandi, an IPA sitting at 6.8% ABV and 65 IBUs.

Had from a can. Good classic hoppy flavor and aroma, which was nice to see from a can. Overall though just a decent IPA. I may be spoiled with that style, but it wasn’t one of my favorite. Would be good on a hot day though.

Hoppy, floral aroma. Golden orange color. Super hoppy finish. Very bold and chewy, so much so that I thought it might be a double.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2011 can. murky amber/brown under a large, foamy, beige head. a mix of caramel malt, tea and piney hops in nose. flavor is a mix of thick caramel and pine mostly but i guess there’s some citrus too. almost full bodied. sticky. soft carbonation from the can makes it easy throw a few back, especially considering the 6.8% tag. re-rate a few days later - this beer is quite astringent and soapy sometimes.

Amber, wafer thin white head. Grass, lemon, pine, some malt poking through the alcohol. A bit watery on the palate with long bitter finish. Very strong and hoppy.

Superior, Co. - Superior Liquors - 12 oz can...last of my take homes from Colorado....sad. Deep dark copper, slightly murky with a thick sticky off white head that leaves plenty of lacing. Fresh resiny spruce-like aroma, brief wisp of cat urine - but not overpowering.Bold, fresh flavor - fresh bitter grapefruit, some caramel maltiness, a hint of nuttiness. Thick rich mouthfeel.

Can. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy hop and small malt aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bitter finish of medium to long duration. This a very good brew.
