It’s Old Man Bitter

A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.

An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.

Modus Hoperandi, an IPA sitting at 6.8% ABV and 65 IBUs.

Can-pours copper hue with a soapy off-white head. nose is piney, earthy and somewhat dirty-chinook? however, this years chinook crop smelled fantastic! some metallic notes as well-from the can im guessing. flavors exhibit bit dirty hops, metallic notes and a sweet malt backbone. tehre is alot of good qualities about this beer, but it doesnt come together all that well-somewhat messy. long resinous finish. body is kind of thin, but not bad. decent and would like to try fresh on tap sometime.

Mildly hazed amber with a rocky taupe head leaving some lace as it slowly fades away. Aroma of pine, resinous and floral hops, caramel and orange. Taste of floral and resinous hops balanced out nicely by the sweet malt. Mild vegetation sneaks in, but not too much of a hinderance. Finishes up resinous and bitter, they sure can can their IPA’s in Colorado!

12oz can into a Sam Adams perfect pint. Light amber color with small white head. You can really smell the grapefruit in this brew but it comes with hints of aluminum. Smooth mouth feel. Taste of sweet grass. A lil’ unbalanced but overall not bad.

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2010 can. Pours a cloudy, dark amber with an off-white head. Nose is of pine and citrus. Taste is of citrus balanced by sweet malt. Mouthfeel is very bitter. Surprised that it was better than expected. This has become my go-to IPA.

Pours a nice golden color with a medium head and some good lace. The aroma is very dank with lots of Otto’s jacket notes and a good citrus character. The flavor is mildly roasty and has lots of good spicy and fruity hops. Really tasty stuff.

Thanks Bob! 12oz bottle. A bit red. Poor head retention. Nice carb level. Dish soapy hops. Some herby pine. Good firm bitterness. Malt backbone is just a bit too sweet. Could be a little dryer.

(12oz bottle) pours deep rusty amber, head with oily bubbles that lasts the duration. Nose of toasted caramel, quite floral, light grapefruit and honey. Taste of honey, toasted bread/caramel, light citrus bitterness, with a medium thick oily body. Nothing offensive in this at all.

Upon first sips and pours, this might be one of my favorite IPA’s. Pours a dark copper with a thin head, aroma is hoppy...nice balance of citrus & floral. Taste can be comparable to Bell’s Two Hearted, a hint of malt with an abundance of hops and a great finish. Maybe it’s the can???

Bottled@Monks Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is spruce, fruity hops as well as some grass. Flavour is quite much the same with a quite bitter finish.
