It’s Old Man Bitter

A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.

An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.

Modus Hoperandi, an IPA sitting at 6.8% ABV and 65 IBUs.

First tried this at Durham World Beer Festival 2010. Good pour from the can with biggish bubble head and sturdy lacing. A bit of barn and dirt in the nose (did someone spill gueuze in this batch??). Hops all over my tongue but balanced by sweet malt body. Smoother than most IPAs--doesn’t have that snap/dryness to it.

Can. Thanx Fastpass11. Brilliant pour with dome fine head. What a nose! The fuity IPA aroma just bellows out of your mug. And that translates into some great taste. Enjoy

Ska produces another fine brew that comes in a can (!). Great taste made more entertaining by the can design. Worth a try for IPA fans. Break out your Specials records and skank to the Modus.

Can. Pours a clear dark amber with a huge fluffy white head. Light aroma, of citrus, hops, malt, a hint of pine and sugar. Taste is bitter and smooth, of hops, malt, citrus, sugar, and a bit floral. Lingering creamy bitterness. Decent.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2011 Pours a medium reddish brown with an off-white head out of a can. Very hoppy aroma. Biting flavor, with a hoppy finish. Tastes a lot better when it’s not ice cold.

Can. Pours light amber/golden with white head and good lacing. Aroma is pleasant citrus, pine, and flowery hops. Flavor is hoppy bitter with notes of grapefruit and a nice malty balance. Mouthfeel is smooth and leaves just a slight bitterness on the finish.

Can (awesome!) Pour is clear brilliant golden/ orange with minimal white head. Aroma is loaded with citrus and pine hop. Aroma is very fresh and full. Flavor also with citrus and pine hops with a little malt backbone. Really clean, crisp, and to the point. Great beer. Love cans.

12oz can. Filtered, deep amber-tan color. Creamy, lacy head. Full bodied, robust IPA. Well done. Toasty malt backbone. Solid grapefruit, orange-citrus hop flavors. Pretty much packs the hop punch of most Imperial IPAs, but with a creamier, mellower body. Well balanced.

Can from a trade with cbkschubert. Pours clear copper color with off white head. Juicy citrus hop aroma with some caramel. Bitter pine hop flavor with some grapefruit rind and a touch of malt sweetness. Medium body with moderate carbonation. A nice IPA. Thanks Craig.
