It’s Old Man Bitter

A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.

An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.

Modus Hoperandi, an IPA sitting at 6.8% ABV and 65 IBUs.

Tasty but pretty average us style ipa. What to say? Nice hops, nice flavour all the elements in place but nothing zingy for me

Tap, Crowbar. Smells like wood and fruit. Surprisingly bitter for 65 IBU. Bitter aftertaste, pine.

Ez a típusú IPA áll legközelebb a szívemhez, az amerikai india pale ale-ek minden jellegzetes tulajdonságát magán hordozza kezdve mély, sokat ígérő borostyán színétől a gyantafolyamos aromáin át egészen ízének fantasztikusan összetett, trópusi és fenyőerdős vegyületéig, melyben érdemes elidőzni bármely komló-fanatikusnak. A jól ismert szirupos jelleggel indít, szánkban tartva tűzhelyen karamellizált, kővé szilárdult cukor aromái bomlanak szálakra, majd továbbhaladva útjának minden egyes szegletét átszövi a telt ízű, karcmentes kesernye a szájpadunktól a nyelvszélünkön át egészen a garatunkig. Igazi amerikai fenegyerek.

Can. Resin, fruity, lemon, light sweetness, booze makes it feel like a DIPA, sticky maltiness. Not quite one for me, but not saying I didn’t like it. Just didn’t impress me so much.

Can, thanks to Eugene. Pours clear amber with white head; splotchy lacing. Aroma: herbal, leafy, with healthy dose of pine and caramel. Taste: moderate sweetness with a sharp and lasting bitter finish. Imagine somebody made a forest-flavored bitter caramel. Palate: medium body, oily texture, average carbonation.

Can. Best before date of dec 02, 2014. Pours a slightly hazed amber with a small white head. Aromas of pine tar and some light citrus. Taste is bitter and semi sweet. Very low carb. Very old school hop profile. This beer would have been great in 2009. As it is, it has to take a back seat to the new wave of late addition juicy tropical hop explosion flavored IPAs. This is dated and tired. Finishes flat, bitter and sticky. No.

Can. Copper with a 1 finger off white head. Aroma is grapefruit, pineapple, caramel and pine. Taste is similar but more pine forward with a tangerine Jolly Rancher finish. Medium mouthfeel and carb. Really nice.

Caramalt, peach, apricot, weed. Sweet citrus, marmalade, heady pine hops, hint of lime, bittersweet finish. Quite sweet for an IPA but hoppiness slowly grows on the palate nicely.
