Itís Old Man Bitter

A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.

An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.

Modus Hoperandi, an IPA sitting at 6.8% ABV and 65 IBUs.

Overwhelmin aroma of grapefruit and a bit of lilac bush. Nice head upon pour , and a dazzling semi opaque orange amber color. Striking appearence, then you can actually begin to taste with your nose in a way as you begin to sip. Refreshing burst of hop flavor, decent carbonation, not too much but there. Medium body has a crisp mouthfeel. Slight creaminess at the end. No sweet elements that I noticed, citrus, clove, and a bit of burnt toast taste. Sort of ashy tasting, not as balanced as I like, but definatly a high end American style hopped up IPA.

Favorite go-to IPA. The blend of citrus, pine is well balanced and the smooth back palate feels like the beginning of a double IPA. Raymee.com does this can art as a fridge magnet.

The appearance, when poured from a bottle, is an excellent copper amber color with nice carbonation. The aroma has hints of fruit with floral notes and a slight hop aroma. The taste is hoppy with a pleasant mouth feel and a nice crisp, hoppy bitter finish. This is an excellent IPA with strong character.

Keg at the cock tavern hackney. Clear light amber / dark orange coloured pout with a lasting creamy off white head. Aroma is caramel / toffee, burnt grass hop, clean ferment. Touch of apple on the nose as well. Flavour is nice caramel malt, biscuit, grassy cascade american c hop. Lingering pine and caramel hop. Very clean cal ale ferment. Little berry lingers. Palate is medium light body with semi sweet caramel and highish carbonation. Tasty beer.

Keg at the hanging bat. Pours amber with a thin white head. Big citrus and resin hop aromas. Bitter taste with a caramel backbone. Solid US IPA.

Nice IPA, you can without doubt feel that this is west coast IPA. Grapefruit, overall fruity, perfectly balanced bitterness and pretty great overall balance. Quite refreshing.

Pours clear reddish amber with a strong white head from a can. Nose has a cornucopia of hops, flowers, some grass and pine with citrus and resin too. Also faint notes of licorice and sweetness. Mouth brings out the grass and pine with a medium caramel body. Texture is a bit sticky with soft carbonation and a long, hoppy bitter finish as is only fit for a beer with this name.

Very nice beer by a great brewery. Fresh hoppy and citrusy aromas with a balanced malty backbone. Enjoyed it.

Definitely a winner. This IPA does not have as pronounced a hop nose as some Iíve rated. But thatís OK. The hop flavor was pronounced and delicious. The beer itself was fresh and crisp. Obviously the Brewers opted a high attenuation yeast resulting in a beer with lower residual sweetness. The sweet/malt flavor is perfectly balanced with hop flavor and finish. More caramel malt than perhaps the Ballast Sculpin that fetchs a 100 rating. I might rate this one as equal. But the Carmel malt in the modus hoperandi provides a more complex flavor. I think I love it!

Nice IPA. Pine, citrus, tropical. Has a really hoppy dry finish. Exactly what an IPA should taste like. Orange, mango, papaya. Solid IPA.
