3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jason1970 (139) - Illinois, USA - OCT 5, 2012Good IPA. Certainly has all the right pieces in place. Pine with some grapefruit. Hoppy but nice. Has a nice dark copper hue to it with some lacing that hangs around after the modest head dissipates. Taste is of caramel and pine with some resin and lots of citrus. It’s spicy and bitter on the tongue but not overly so. I liked it and will drink it again if available.

12oz can. If you seek a perfected western American hopped ipa and stumble upon modus cans, look no further. This beer is everything an American ipa wanted to be. I spend a significant amount of time on the east coast in Washington, D.C. When I am not in Colorado and find that this is the one beer I miss the most. I miss great divide and Odell’s, but find that bells and founders from Michigan, as well as dogfish head, make reasonable substitutes. I find modus unequaled in its piney stickiness to perfection. If you want what a true American ipa should strive to be, pick up a modus.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 rgfellow (81) - - MAY 24, 2013
Bottle at home. Pours a deep amber with minimal head and wispy lacing. Aroma is big pine. Taste is bitter with hints of a malt backbone. Palate is besieged by lingering bitterness.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3989) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 24, 2013
Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a caramel-amber color with a medium sized foamy tan head that faded and left decent lacing. The aroma was tangy, sweetish and malty with light notes of caramel and pine. The flavor was tangy and bitter pine, resin and a hint of caramel with an earthy and musky undertone. Long bitter pine, earthy and musky finish. Moderately full bodied. Solid.

One of the best IPA's I've had in a while. Excellent aroma of pine and citrus. The flavor has a nice malty sweet body with a big balance of hops. The pine and citrus is most notable. Dry and extremely refreshing.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 AndySnow (1199) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 19, 2013
Can. Amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma of fruit, lemon. Flavour is sweet, hops, malt, lemon.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Doofgoblin (131) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAY 12, 2013
Excellent IPA. Pours an amber with a head that has somewhat nonuniform bubbles. Lots of citrus aroma, orange rind, hint of grapefruit, and some pine. The taste has plenty of piney, citrus notes, and well as a malt flavor that is not completely over powered by the hops. Finish quick, dry, some bitter, but amazingly smooth. All around, it’s really excellent.
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Stevesie (203) - - MAY 11, 2013
From can. Pours a beautiful burnt orange with about one finger of white head. Good retention and lacing. Nose is an absolute delight--aggressive and "weedy." Taste is a lot of hops with some citrus and a layer of booze in the middle. Smooth, moist finish that literally leaves my mouth watering. Great hop character, great balance, great beer.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 OKplus (379) - Oklahoma, USA - MAY 9, 2013
A - Pours an almost clear amber color that resembles iced tea. A 1 finger white head melts into a frothy cap with a raised collar that holds on to the glass.
S - Sweet ruby red grapefruit, woody pine, toffee malt, mint.
T - Pine comes out first then a blast of mint leaf hits, the caramel malt brings in some cookie-like sweetness and rides out until the finish. Leafy mint and grapefruit rind take over toward the finish and coat the mouth with different kind of bitterness.
M - Medium body, crisp, adequate carbonation.
I picked this up randomly and I’m glad I did. Lots of leafy mint and citrus rind hops going on as well as a solid malt bill. This provides an afterburner type bitterness. Well done. I’m looking forward to trying more beers from this brewery.

Poured a dark caramel amber color with two fingers of off-white head. Nice amount of spread out lacing on the sides. Average retention all the way down.
Smelled all sorts of hops, starting with resin hops. Also citrus hops (grapefruit, orange peel) and floral hops. Skunky resin really dominates here.
Taste was a bit out of whack. Lots of different flavors that really didn’t work well together. The resin hops comes in first, but is not as dominant as the smell. Could taste the alcohol for sure and it reminded me a bit of aftershave. Kind of heavy and grainy. Faint floral hops and some grapefruit citrus hops. Very bitter.
Medium body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish that was way too much alcohol.
The alcohol here just dominates. Not a big fan and I’ll do my best not to try it again. Maybe just a skunky can?
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 pieeetr (15) - Hägersten, SWEDEN - MAY 3, 2013
