It’s Old Man Bitter

A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.

An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.

Modus Hoperandi, an IPA sitting at 6.8% ABV and 65 IBUs.

It’s hard to take a beer seriously when it’s ska themed and comes in a can, but this is an awesome IPA. Just the right amount of bitterness (a bit above the IPA average, but without punching you in the sinuses). The hops are resiny. Just enough malt sweetness. The mouth feel is smooth.

(can) very hazy deep amber colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of pungent bittering hops, marzipan and pineapple, slightly oxidized, with some notes of pear, peaches and cookie dough. flavour is mostly caramel, treebark and herbal hops, with some more peaches, straciatella yoghurt and a medium-bitter earthy finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

Amazing all around from the appearance, the aroma, taste, and mouthfeel. This beer really has about the perfect balance between malt and hops along with a good mouthfeel. Insanely drinkable. and one I really wish I could get locally.

Can to pint glass. Aroma of rich malt and pine. Clear light copper with sustained white head that laces well. More citrus in taste but lots of malt.

Draught. This is a sloppy hoppy IPA with great bitterness and malt balance.

(350ml can from Systembolaget) Pours a clear amber-bronze with a small white head without lace. Aroma caramel malt sweetness, pine resin, pit fruit, floral, grapefruit peel, not too strong though, faded. Palate semi-sweet and sticky at first, caramel, citrus mix, peach, herbal. Pine resin and citrus pith building to a dry and fairly bitter, herbal, citrusy finish. A slight bit of biscuit in the caramel left in the aftertaste. Medium bodied with fairly light carb. Decent IPA, a bit malty thanks to age I think. Quite drinkable if not transcendental.

Can sample at a tasting at Max’ place. Thanks Tom L. Clear dark gold with a white head. Mild hoppy-fruity aroma, some perfume too. Bitter, a little dry taste. Medium body, delicate fizz, mild fruity and bitter finish.

Too much pine and resin in the aroma. Fresh citrus though. Not my favourite. Bottle, landverk.

Can. Light hops in the aroma, pine and citrus. Pine, wood and citrus in the flavour, nice maltiness. (Landverk, 05.04.2015)

On tap. Citrus, light pine and caramel. Crisp with light bitterness. A bit sweet in the middle. Solid IPA finish.

At a tasting, stable long lasting creamy off white creamy head, clear deep orange color, aroma od pine and herbs with some fruit, flavor of orange and lemon with a strong herbal shrubby bitterness, with a hint of graininess in the back, quite nice and drinkable.
