Itís Old Man Bitter

A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.

An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.

Modus Hoperandi, an IPA sitting at 6.8% ABV and 65 IBUs.

The Modus has become my Go-To brew. This is not a beer for those that do not enjoy a hoppy beer, which I happened to be just a few months ago. Now I enjoy the "Hoppier the Better" brews and this definitely fits the bill! ---Rated by mcesooner via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours hazy medium amber with one finger of off-white head diminishing gradually to a thin skim, spotty lacing. (4/5) Nose is piney resin, pithy citrus, mild caramel malt, faint tropical fruit. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, moderately strong bitter. (7/10) Medium body, moderate to low carbonation, building bitter finish. (4/5) A fairly emphatic A/IPA that comes pretty close to a DIPA in pretty much every regard: intensity of flavour, ABV, IBUís (65), colour, and body. Although itís not malt forward by any means, the malt is lurking not far under the surface, and I expect this one could get fairly caramelly, fairly quickly, as it ages. As it stands, though, itís a nice, sharply bitter IPA with good support from the malt. (15/20)

Dark copper pour with fluffy white head from a can. Sharp bitter attack. Pine resin and spruce. Bitter astringent finish that lingers. Very focused and nice hop loverís IPA.

Pours hazy amber with a small white head and good lacing. A strong resin aroma from the bottle and then some tropical fruit and honey from the glass. The honey was quite strong with some cardboard, but I am assuming the beer wasnít that fresh as I got it in Sweden. A very drinkable IPA.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355 ml bottle from Systembolaget Passagen, Stockholm.
Dark amber to copper, moderate hazy body, with a medium, lacing, creamy, slightly yellow head.
Aroma of grapefruit, pine, peach, tea, caramel.
Tastes of grapefruit, pine, resin, sweet berries, peach, tea, with a smooth malt backbone of biscuit and honey.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes bitter, quite dry, zesty, piney, but also subtly sweet malty.

Really tasty! Iím surprised this isnít rated higher. Wonderful balance between quite strong, piney, resinous hops and suprisingly big, smooth malts. Also some nice fruits underneath. The intensity is a bit like a Double IPA, but it still drinks easier like an IPA.

Can from Cellarbrations at Carlisle. Brilliant looking beer, orange/golden colour with a small white head. It lacks a little in flavour for me, it seems to be all about the IBU. Not a bad beer and I'm glad I could try it from a can but doesn't stand up to some of the better American IPA offerings.

A gift from Dan. Bronze colour, mildly cloudy with nice yellowish head. Fruit malt and hops in the aroma. Malt, flower and then extreme hoppy mildly burned malty aftertaste, that was almost overwhelming in the beginning but develops into a nice one.
