Itís Old Man Bitter

A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.

An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.

12oz Can. The pour was a clear copper orange with an average (1-2 finger) off white bubbly head that reduced down to a thin puddled film and small collar with excellent sticky sheets of lacing. The aroma was of a light biscuit malt, pine hops and a soapy yeast with notes of caramel, toffee, citrus (grapefruit) and a light tropical fruitiness (pineapple I believe). The taste was lightly malty sweet with a hint of caramel and a mild fruitiness from the start, becoming nice and hoppy with dose of citrus, a hint of toffee and a bitter citrus peel ending. The flavor lasted for a good long time following the swallow, with a slightly sweet bitter hoppy taste that was left to linger for a while longer. Mouthfeel was a few steps above light in body with an exceptionally dry texture and a carbonation that was a little more than mild. Overall this was a decent enough IPA with a good strong bitterness along with a touch of fruit and mild sweetness, making this a nice and easy to drink brew...

6/22/2015: I was expecting to be underwhelmed by this beer, but it definitely surprised me and delivered... and then some! This is a fantastic IPA that reminds me of a PacNW-style Red IPA in many ways. The citrus and pine hops are fantastic and there is a great caramel maltiness running throughout. Everyting is extremely well-balanced, yet distinct. Itís very smooth, delicious, and a joy to drink! Draught (pints) at the brewery.

Aromas deeply based in galaxy hops. Drank in a can so the logo on the outside was cool. The taste is akin to Schlaflyís TIPA, which is my favorite beer. The brew is a little smooth for an IPA, and has a bit much on carbonation.

Can / Hop, Burns & Black / Dulwich / £3 approx. Amber colour. Very thin white head that fades. Very soft carbonation. It has a strong hop aroma, pine and a bit of caramel from the malt. Taste is of strong lovely pine hop flavour with a sweet backbone. The flavour is similar to the aroma. Full flavoured, nice body, nice finish. A great example of an America IPA!

On tap at the Yardhouse in Denver. Colour...clear, dark amber with a thick ecru head. Nose...musty hops and spent grain. Palate...lightly carbonated and rather dry, to start. Then comes the bitterness! Graciously hoppy and definitely leaning towards the piney side. Mid palate, the flavours switch to a more fruity array. The finish is slightly tart and quite bitter.

Pours copper with a long lasting off white foamy head. Aroma of grapefruit type citrus with a little burn to it and some grassy notes further down. Taste is sweet citrus, lemon, followed by a mellow malt and finished with a perfectly weighted bitterness. This is a great beer.

Can at home. Amber orange pour. Aroma is sweet malt with some fresh citrus . Full bodied. Fruity floral hops with notes of jasmine and orange give way to a very sweet malty base. Finishes bitter and fruity.
