65 cl bottle @ home, ”best by 26.03.2013”
Aroma has cocoa, soy sauce and licorice. Flavour has soy sauce, lots of salty licorice and hints of cocoa. Finishes with some hops, more salty licorice and distant herbal notes. Way too salty.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black brown with tan head. Interesting aroma for an imperial porter-I was expecting a malty aroma but instead I’m smelling more of a Hefeweizen. I’m picking up some of that same Hefe-like yeastiness in the flavor as well as some sassafras. The finish has a anesthetic- peaty flavor.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Backlog rating 1-11-2009 (Bottle) This beer has a small tan creamy head with a poor retention span, mostly opaque body, fizzy carbonation, a dark brown hue, and very little lacing. The Aroma is malty, hoppy, chocolate, alcohol, roasty, and some notes of coffee. The Taste is malty, hoppy, chocolate, roasty and the ABV comes through but it is not overpowering. The Palate is tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. Overall, this is beer is very quaffable, a nice beer on a cold snowy day, worth trying, and a beer that I would drink again.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Oddly light colored for an impy porter -- red-brown and translucent. There’s a lot of light getting through this. High white head with lace. Nose is mild -- puts me in mind of instant coffee and black forest cake. Again, mild on the palate -- licorice, coffee, some slight sweetness. Alcohol is well-hidden. Thin. Meh -- wouldn’t be bad for a porter, but I wouldn’t call it Imperial at all.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear dark cola color that is surprisingly still transparent. A respectable light tan head tops it off. Aroma is vinous, like a barleywine. Taste is smooth, sweet and porterlike, yet full of roasted (burnt) malt bitterness and a bit of dark dried fruit. Interesting brew!
