King of the alley — this Imperial Porter reigns supreme with a mighty 8% Alcohol by Volume and 60 IBUs.Creamy, chocolaty sweet, with hints of coffee and Bing cherry, the Nefarious is wickedly outrageous.

Black pour with a thin tan head. Chocolate, light roast, and berry notes in the aroma. Flavor is ashy char, chocolate, roast, booze, light pine and odd fruity esters. Strangely light on the palate with a slick feel until the astringent, boozy finish. Didn’t really do it for me, seems sloppy and a little too boozy for an 8% Imperial Porter, not that it is necessarily too boozy for the style, but the other components should stand up to it better, seems almost watered down.

600cl bottle shared in a snifter. Pours dark brown almost black with very little head or carbonation. Aroma is subtle chocolate and coffee with the former being more apparent in the taste. Medium mouthfeel which is perfectly suited to the 8% ABV. Flavours are of dusted milk chocolate and raisin like dried fruits. Very little bitterness.

(Bottle aged for 12 months): Pours pitch black with a mocha head that dissipated quickly. Aroma of chocolate malt, smoke, coffee, bread. Flavours are big on bready, thick treacle and malt. Dark chocolate hints on the finish, slight mellow alcohol taste too which isn’t detrimental. Perfect Christmas night beer.

Aroma algo inconsistente.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This inky black beer pours without any sort of head. It has a very rich chocolate and cherry flavour followed by roasted coffee and more milk chocolate on the creamy tart red fruity finish.

Bomber, aged 6 months. Dark mahogany color, clearish, with a smedium head with biggish bubbles. Medium appetizing aroma, somewhat complex roasted notes. Burnt malty taste, nothing that spectacular, a little boring actually. Palate has is a resinous, heavy mouthfeel.

Bomber from Mr. A’s in Palatine, so could have some age. Pours a very dark brown with a bit of a tan head. Some dark chocolate, cocoa powder, more caramelly through the glass. The end adds rum raisin. More sweet than bitter. 13.8

650 ml bottle at the Local Pub, Athens. Dark brown with beige head. Aroma is roasted malty and light hoppy. Taste is sweet malty at the beginning, roasted, some coffee, then it becomes bitter. Medium body, oily, soft carbonation.

Had this in bottle at Bracelands Campsite, nr Coleford, Forest of Dean, Glos, Saturday 6th September 2014 Pours black with light beige head. Smooth and creamy, roasty but not harsh. A little sweet liquorice and chocolate but a tiny bit thin even though its 8%. Its pretty decent but I wouldn’t rush out to seek it again. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6
