3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2013 Pedestrian orange-gold appearance with a tiny head and average lacing. Good ***TRUE*** ESB aroma of caramel malts with a bit of raisin/banana fruit and acid, although maybe a bit too much booze for something that is a mere 5.7% ABV. Taste is far too vegetal, though - meh, this is not what I was expecting from the aromas. ESBs should never taste...vegetal. Also some grain. Kind of a mess, really. Disappointed with what smelled so promising. 02/24 update: OK, I was trying some of my beers too warm yesterday, including this one. The vegetal quality is gone now. However, it’s still rather watery and weak - not much beyond some vaguely caramelly malts here. Uprate, but very slight.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
355ml can from Appellation Wines. Pours amber with a thin but attractive head. The nose has a fairly faint hint of ginger biscuits. The taste has toffee, some biscuits then toffee again. The palate is medium bodied and crispy in texture but still quite clean and refreshing. Overall, my co-drinkers think it would become cloying but I disagree.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The aroma of this beer is very malty with hints of sugar and vanilla, and the color is quite orange with a minimal yet dissipating white head. The taste is slightly bitter and mildly sour, and there is a combination of a flat carbonation, a bitter finish, a think texture, and a light body that make up the pleasing palate of this beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours clear amber with a medium beige head, very fine clinging lacing. Aromas of biscuit, apricot, lemon, and grass, with a faint mineral note. Medium-light body, crisp, lightly dry. Lightly sweet, barely there tartness, medium bitter with a grapefruit finish. Very drinkable, and enjoyably just on the bitter side of balanced.
