The name made me think it was an ESB, an English beer by nature. And this tastes too Americanized. It's got a grainy malt character. As an APA, it's all right.

Can. Pours clear copper with fine off-white head, settles quickly with thin lacing. Aroma is bitter, hoppy, fruity, apple/pear, mild and soapy. Flavor is mildly hoppy, sweet and mildly fruity, with a mildly malty, nutty finish. Flavor has some balance between hop and malt but is slightly underwhelming. Soft to moderate carbonation, light body, and crisp texture.

[355ml can, Trembling Madness bottle shop, York] Hazy opaque amber pour, with a thin white lacing. Aroma is sweetly caramel-led, but with some grassy herbal hop in there as well. Tastewise, more of the caramel at first, then the slight citrus hop comes in, before more toffee sweetness on the finish [19052013]

12 oz can from a friend. Amber and clear with an off-white head and patchy lacing. Toasty caramel malts, earthy bitter hops and floral/herbs hit the nose. Similar flavor, bitter and lightly sweet. Medium body with a dry finish. Meh.

Poured from can into snifter, clear deep orange, light head, peculiar aroma. Quite chuggable, not bad...but not anything great either. I will finish this in the shower and likely not bother buying any more.

Appearance: very clear deep gold to orange color, very small white head that dissipated immediately
Aroma: hints of fruity hops and malt, pretty devoid of aromas
Taste: some hoppy grass flavor, mild bitterness, also get hints of malty sweetness
Palate: almost zero carbonation, all of these ska cans I drove back from Colorado are very flat, slight bitter aftertaste
Overall: despite all the shortcomings this is a pretty tasty beer, it severely lacks in the appearance, aroma, and palate areas though

Appearance: translucent golden orange color, nice dense head, the head is about an inch when fully poured
Aroma: not an extremely strong aroma, can smell key notes of hops and malt
Taste. Slightly bitter but does have a slightsweetness at the end, hoppy key notes, pretty smooth taste, the taste evolves throughout the sip
Palette: tinges at first and then smooths out
Overall: this is a very enjoyable beer, easy to drink, light and refreshing

Typical for the style, this is pretty well balanced; it’s mild with malts on the front and some moderate herbal or spicy bitterness, and some floral notes. From a can at Total Wine beer tasting class on canned beers.

This has nothing to do with bitter ale. I found the overhoppiness of this beer something not pleasant. Where is the buscuit/malty taste? Where is the slightly metallic aftertaste of bitter ales?
