This porter pours out thin, a dark rootbeer colored reddish brown. Small, almost nonexistant head. That’s its worst attribute. The aroma was prototype porter: chocolate malts, toasty, with nearly no hop aroma.
The texture was light, a very nice surprise. Not creamy, not heavy, just a refreshing, thin body. Light chocolate malt flavor was the dominant taste, with hints of sweetness and caramel. My drinking partner noted a slight almond flavor somewhere in the taste. Wrapped up with a tiny fruity nose from the yeast, this was a delightful beer. Easy drinking.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 14, 2005 Rosted malt aroma with some chocolate aroma. Black with little or no head to speak of. Flavor was watery at first. Not till the end did some rosted malty flavor appear for taste. Ok but not the best. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 8, 2005 Pours a transparent dark brown with a thin light tan head, that leaves a fine lacing. Aroma has a light cookie dough and caramel presence with mild roasty malt and milk chocolate. Body starts with a nice sugary maltiness tending toward a slightly drier roasty finish with a touch of lactose. Nicely balanced and enjoyable, with good drinkability. Thanks TChrome! | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 3, 2005 Beer pours dark mahogany color with a nice cream colored head and some light lacing. Aroma is all malt, chocolate and caramel just a hint of roasted nuts.
Flavor is nicely malty, but like other SKA beers, seems to be just a bit short on ingredients. These guys really need to amp things up to address the needs of the modern craft beer drinker. These beers might fly well in the Old Country, but fall short the New World. Rather thin palate as well.
Oh well Nefarious Ten Pin is good.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 30, 2005 The beer spews from the 12-ounce brown bottle a deep brown with ruby highlights, the head portly in size and the consistency frothy with the color a winsome tan and the lace left over a thick sheet to obscure the glass. The nose has a light toasted aroma with a caramel and nut like sweetness, fresh and clean, the start is slightly sweet with a modest malt presence and the top a bit thin in its feel. Finish has a mild acidity and the hops pleasantly spicy, quite dry aftertaste, a pleasant albeit light porter in my estimation.
