MrEcted1 (144), Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA Nov 30, 2008 Very uninspiring. This beer pours a somewhat dark brown hue but it looks empty, thin, leaves little head and lacing. Tastes like a watered down porter. There is the traditional porter nuttiness. Caramels are present and not very good. Just a very ho-hum beer worth trying once and that’s about it. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Oct 12, 2008 Pours a near black with dark brown highlights and persistant tan head. Aroma of alcohol and some roasty chocolate. Vegetal nuttiness in the flavor. Medium body. Mildest hop bitterness in the finish. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Aug 22, 2008 12 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a clear dark brown color with a one finger thick light tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is roasted malt and herbal hops. Flavor is roasted malt and a touch of chocolate. The roastiness of the malt lingers a tad on the palate. Mouthfeel and body is a little thin. A drinkable beer, but nothing worth writing home about. kramer (2406), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 11, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear brown body with a large fizzy light brown head. Roasty nose with some burnt malt, cola, dark fruits, and a touch of hops. The flavor is very astringent and a little high on the burnt malt for my tastes in a Porter. A good bit of hop bitterness mid to late swallow. Finishes with a bit of an ashy note. Mouthfeel is a little thin with fizzy overactive carbonation. Finishes on the watery side with a short duration. Overall, just a little too heavy on the astringency and lacking in a whole lot of complexity. timsilvia32 (445), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Jul 19, 2008 Dark brown pour, tan head. Good roasted nose. Earthy taste, with some pretty balanced malt, chocolate. Weren’t too adventurous with this one, it is a standard representation of the style. No problem for a session. Beerlando (2283), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 5, 2008 Pours dark chestnut brown with a small, fizzy, khaki colored head. Minimal retention or lacing. Aromatics include a cola and molasses malt background, with baker’s chocolate and hints of roasted coffee. A touch of earthy hop bitterness creeps in on the back end. Flavors are similarly simple, with bittersweet chocolate malts, roasty coffee, and earthy bitterness. Light bodied for the style, it is smooth and easily drinkable, but ultimately not very satisfying. Decent little porter, but far from special. amc3000 (46), houston, Texas, USA Jul 3, 2008 12oz bottle. aged 1 year.
pours with much carbonation, fluffy tan head. aroma is light cola and a little chocolate. taste is mild for a porter, and a little too much carbonation for my tastes. light body. arondee (173), Tucson, Arizona, USA Apr 19, 2008 Poured from 12 oz.bottle dark brown/black. Small amount of head. Smells of chocolate malt and alcohol. At first it tastes sweet, then the dark chocolate taste kicks in, maybe a little watery. Not really my type of beer but for what it is it does taste pretty good. I’d say this is an average all-around beer. Nothing special about it but nothing bad about it either.
