5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Mar 30, 2007 Bottle: Nice black color, thin to moderate foamy beige head, soft lacing.   Soft roasted malt and cocoa nose, some bitter dark choclate notes, along with some vegetable.   First I noticed how thin this beer was.   Watery roasted malt start, some cocoa, coffee bean, smidgen of chocolate.   Body and mouthfeel are unfortunately on the thin side.   Seems quite watery.   The Imperial Porter is where its at.   This one is far too light, smells decent (minus the vegetable), but doesn’t follow through in Body.   Lingering lactose like sweetness.   Meh...
rotoguru (93), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Jan 6, 2007 Pours dark black (red tone) with thick tan head that lasts. Mildly burnt chocolate malt nose. Flavor is faintly smoky and strong with black malt in a thick body. Probably more of a stout in nature. kseecs16 (865), Naperville, Illinois, USA Dec 27, 2006 Pours a dark brown that is somewhat less than opaue. Almost no off-white head. A subdued malty smell with a hint of smokiness. A pretty basic watered down flavor, a hint of roast character, semi-sweet, and not very bitter at all. Thin and watery in the mouth. ratman197 (3137), Arvada, Colorado, USA Nov 16, 2006 Bottle poured a clear black with red highlights and a small diminishing amber head. Flavors were typical porter, but somewhat thin and faded quickly. Not bad, OK. guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Aug 5, 2006 Rich, dark brown appearance with a large, dense head and good lacing. Subdued aroma blossomed as it warmed, malty (but not sweet), earthy, with a hint of chicory. Medium bodied mouthfeel, creamy texture, modestly carbonated. Woodsy, roasted malt taste, some bitterness, with a fairly long lasting finish.
