COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Real spearmint and peppermint — not extract — combine with cocoa nibs and vanilla beans to create your reward for making it through winter.

Ancient Greeks tell us (’cause we talk to them) that Persephone turned Minthe into a mint plant in a jealous rage, to keep the little nymph away from her man Hades. Jealous rages rarely end well, but if one did result in mint we’re glad: this is a unique and delicious stout, and we recommend having one while you calm the hell down.

Pours a dark brown/black wit ha chocolate brown head. Aromas of strong mint, dark chocolates and vanilla with some smoke on the end. taste is mint chocolate, vanilla and a tiny bit of roasted malt. It is nearly a dessert beer. Real nice mint flavor but at times can just be a bit overshadowing of the other qualities. I also prefer my stouts to pour thicker with more retention on the glass. Anywho, it is delicious. Drink it!

Bottle at home Wednesday 10th September 2014 Pours black with a mid sized frothy off-white actually light beige head. An experience not unlike drinking a stout immediately after cleaning your teeth. Clean, fresh, minty but with those usual stout characteristics in the background. A great mouthwash of a stout that is actually better than it sounds. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3

"I think this would work better if it were a bigger beer, as the thin feel is almost overwhelmed by the enormity of the aroma and flavors, but it’s still solid. At 7,8,9% though, it’d probably be epic. Nose is spearamint and peppermint dominated, as is the flavor, with vanilla and chocolate playing an important backup role. The menthol of beers. I dug it. A couple in our party did not, but the rest of the 6er will make a nice after dinner brew. Best by last week, so I better hurry up on that."

Bottle. Black beer with a light head. The aroma is like after eight mints with other herbal attributes, and the flavour is minty with a very light bitterness. Overall just a minty stout, I prefer the coffee versions far more. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Huge chocomint nose. Basically feels like drinking After-Eight, quite creamy almost like melted ice cream. Some may hate it bit a fun drink for dessert.

Can at Craig’s. Interesting, full on mint on nose, rich chocolate mint finish, surprisingly not overpowering.

Can 12fl.oz.

[ As SKA Vernal Minthe Stout ].
Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, mint. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, spicy, mint, light to moderate chocolate. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140416]

The Short: Mint flavor was overpowering. The stout tasted more of a flat mint cola than a beer. The Long: I like Ska’s Hopus Moderandi, and decided to give this a shot, since I also like stouts, especially on a cool night. The beer came in a 12oz can, poured light and flat. You had to really try to get a head on it and even when you did it fell flat fast. It really looks and acts like a flat cola, despite the large foam bubbles you manage to get when drank out of a pint. I will probably not try this beer again unless i can get a sample off a tap to see if it pours better that way. I’m really just not a fan of the mint flavor more than anything, and the flavor doesn’t hide. Its overpowering in my mind. this is not a beer i will make part of my regulars.

12 oz can. Pours a very dark down with a thick khaki head that recedes quickly. Smell is a medicinal mint followed by coffee and roasted malt. Flavor is spearmint throughout with notes of chocolate and coffee quietly popping though from behind the overcoat of mint. Medium to light body for a stout. Not a fan, too much mint to strike a reasonable balance for my taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz can. Pours black with a very little khaki head that leaves almost no lacing. Aroma of mint (spearmint and peppermint), cocoa and chocolate. Taste is dominated and overwhelmed by peppermint and spearmint. Behind that is cocoa, dark chocolate, vanilla and dark fruit. Medium bodied, slightly thin texture, mild carbonation. Finish is cocoa and a bit of caramel, but is still dominated by the mints. Good but too strong on the mint.

12oz can, I think from Lukas Liquor. Best by 24/july/14. Black color. Thin brown head. Mostly loose bits of lace. Weird big sweet taste. Not much stout body to this, kind of thin. Vanilla, and mint. Mint flavor is very strange on this, and strong and obnoxious. Not at all well-blended, the beer doesn’t stand up to the huge quantity of mint in the flavor. Some chocolate. Thin and watery. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Light body. Light slick finish. Disappointed with this one. Maybe the weakest mint stout I’ve tried yet.. Difficult to drink. Didn’t finish. Like others are saying, tasting less like Thin Mints / Andes and more like toothpaste.
