Editor’s note: In May 2007 Skagen changed the recipe for "Nordlys" making it a German Hefeweizen instead of a Belgian Wit. Also the hopping has changed.

Bottle, 5.0%. Champagne or white wine aroma, rather yeasty. Cloudy pale yellow colour. Small white head. The flavour is quite sweet, tastes a bit of white sugar. Mildly spicy, clove, I guess. A bit unclean, but not too bad.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow color with a white head, like a traditional hefe. Aroma is of light banana, wheat, subtle spice like clove . The flavor is quite mild, with light banana, subtle spice like clove and coriander, I also get the wheat and some light sweet malt notes. The body is light with a lightly chalky mouthfeel. Overall an avereage Hefe, nothing to see here, move along.

Shared bottle courtesy of Olav. Cloudy golden with a white film. Earthy, fruity aroma with notes of turnip and hints of ripe banana. Acidic and spicy flavors with notes of light malts. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Dry finish.

Shared bottle thanks to Sigmund. Poured hazy straw coloured with no head at all. Aroma is weak wheat and spices. Taste is minimalistic classic hefe, almost no banana and wheat, but good balanced anyhow. Quite good, at least after two sakes...

500 ml bottle, as Skagen Nordlys Hvede, thanks to my beerpal Olav. ABV is 5.0%. Hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Wheaty aroma and flavour, with the usual notes of banana and cloves, but more subdued than in many hefeweizens from the homeland of this style.
