Sep 30, 2008 Hard Live 08. Soft alcohol, vanilla, bourbon, and oak with some soft sweetness too. Pours dark red with great retention. Floral, piney hops, some sweeter caramel malts, and then a blast of bourbon and vanilla, followed by a softer malt sweetness that takes a little edge off. Alcohol is rather big, and this one is hot, but enjoyable. Would like to try again!

Sep 3, 2008 On draught at the brewpub in Mt Vernon, Washington as Oak Aged Bourbon 2 Penny Ale (what a mouth-full!). Pours a clear red copper brew with no head but with a thin film top. Aroma of bourbon, caramel malt, figs, a touch of coconut and some dark pitted fruits. Taste is full bodied, thick and chewy with flavors of caramel malt, bourbon, a touch of vanilla and toffee. Finish has a sweet bourbon and caramel aftertaste that slowly changes to some candi sugar, toffee and a lingering bourbon. WOW is all I can say after all that.

Crazy reddish-colour. Chewy, earthy caramel malts with a wonderful, subtle alcohol and vanilla accents. Very muscular brew. One of my favourites at the fest.
