3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Legacy Liquor, Vancouver
Black color with generous brown compact head. The aroma is very interesting, tobacco, cigar, some ashes, bread. Good body strength, yet with a lean mouthfeel; the flavor is a bit chocolatey, but unfortunately is too much roasty and ashy, burnt coffee too; the bitterness level is high, and the final slightly salty.
A robust, roasty Imperial Stout.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very dark brown colour. Big aroma - chewy, rich, thick maltiness like a side of roast beef and a burnt fruitcake. A little raw, uncouth, with mass toffee and bludgeoning chewy maltiness. Same big, straightforward brute I remember from ten years ago.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Rich aroma of roasted/toasted malt, coffee and perhaps cacao. Also a bit of tar. Thoroughly black color with a tan head that immediately ringed. Full in body; mild in carbonation. Incredibly toasted malt-coffee flavor. There’s also chocolate and probably caramel. This is a beast of a bird. Heat does not interfere. The finish is burnt sweet toast balanced by strong bitter. Motor oil description works for me.
