Dark brown of color with a beige head. An aroma of sugar, chocolate, raisins, molasse, candy and weak liqurice. A flavor of molasse, dark sugar, raisins, liqurice, alcohol, malty and leather.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Copenhagen 16/8 2015. 50 cl bottle from Irma. Blue monkey on the label to give some kinda explanation of the weird name. Pours hazy dark brown with thick off-white head which diminishes slowly to thin layer of foam. Aroma of malty sweetness, fermented plums and alcohol. Rather soft carbonation. Taste is excessively sweet and sugary. Fermented fruit in the long sweet aftertaste. They say on the label that this beer is "a Belgian inspired beer". In my opinion there is a long way to a decent Bruin from this Plum in Madeira.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
0,5 l bottle bought in a danish supermarket. Dark red brown and clear in the glass. Small beige head. Belgian style malty on the nose. Taste is mid sweet and fruity malty, later more malty, with a fruity sweetness and some bitterness. Not really the expected complexity, especially in the aftertaste.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pronounced fruit flavor and thin, but persistent foam. Clear Belgian dubbel with great malt sweetness which also has easy burned notes, and lots of caramel. Dried fruits, such as prune and raisin, forms a fine slightly acidic and fruity balance to the malt. Slightly vinous richness, but the dark malts and the fruit is still in focus throughout. It is an extremely well-brewed Belgian dubbel, which is quite on a par with most Belgian ones. The only thing I do not understand is the name. It’s called Blå Chimpanse because of the link to the famous Trappist beer Chimay Bleu. I can not really taste the connection. The Blå Chimpanse is a delightful and tasty ale, but a Chimay it will never be.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Decent enough take on a Danish version of Chimay Bleu. Has some of the esters going for it, but does not reach particularly high levels.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml from tap at Gæstgivergården. Clear rosewood coloured body. Patchy surface, spotty lacing. Aroma of mild brown malts. Smooth malt driven taste of caramel and liquorice. Dried fruity touch beneath.Tolerably sweet finish. Rounded on the swallow. Fine partner to my herring sandwich lunch (Helsingør 30.04.2015).

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours clear brown with medium beige head that disappears quickly. Very low carbonation. Aroma is spicy, sweet ripe tropical fruits, sweet malts, sweet alcohol, maybe an off-hint of old cellar, but nothing too bad. Taste is sweet, sweet and sweet. Did I mention sweetness? Not sure any hops were used to brew this beer, no bittering ones for sure. Palate is heavy, a bit oily, flat. Clearly wants to be a Chimay, but somehow fails to find the right balance.
