2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 yngwie (8717) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - DEC 31, 2011
On tap at Ølfestival 2011. It pours a clear, light brown body and a small, beige head. Caramel and some maltyness on the nose, with a light roasted touch. Caramel, dried fruits and a touch of roasted malts in the flavor, roasted caramel finish. Medium body, pleasantly carbonated. A decent but boring beer that I won’t miss. 110528
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 POLK (1293) - Hørning, DENMARK - DEC 26, 2011
Should this Belgian inspired beer called Blue chimpanzee having References to Chimay Blue?. If this is Skands bid on this, then they must do better. The beer has a good Belgian but is very thin. Beginner Belgian.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ClubGonzo (1736) - Bergen, NORWAY - OCT 22, 2011
Bottle @ Grünerløkka Brygghus, Oslo. Pours a dark reddish brown body with a small white head. Nose is almonds, candy sugars, deep malts and hints of caramel. In the mouth, the taste of marzipan (as opposed to only almonds) come more to the surface, along with roasted malts and molasses and hints of raisins. A tad bit sweet for me, and very, very far from the beer it apparently seeks to imitate (Chimay Bleu) but a fair enough beer, I suppose.

Bottle @ Home. Pours hazy dark brown with a shortlasting offwhite head. Aroma of malt, belgian yeast, caramel, sweet fruit, spices. Taste is malt, yeast, caramel, sweet fruit, light spicy. Thin body, soft carbonation. Could pass as a Chimay Bleu light. 221011

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Palme (1200) - Bergen, NORWAY - OCT 17, 2011
0.5l bottle @ Grunerløkka Brygghus. Funny stuff! This one pours a dark reddish body with a big and kinda lasting big-bubbly off-white head. The aroma can remind a bit of a proper Chimay, but it’s missing some of that mild roastiness and sweetness that the real stuff has. Still, quite OK aroma with some dark fruits, banana-sweetness and notes of both caramel, cardboard and it’s also kinda earthy. Average carbonation, medium-bodied and the mouthfeel is rich-oily to sticky. Flavor wise this can actually remind a bit of a Chimay, it has a nice sweetness with more fruity tones and notes of dark malts. Also hints of yeast before it ends in a caramel-sweetish finish. However, to be quite honest I’d much rather have a proper Chimay any day over this, but still, not a horrible beer in any way.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 espenra (609) - Kurland, NORWAY - OCT 16, 2011
50cl bottle. Amber red colour with a small head. Aroma is belgian yeast, brown sugar and perhaps some bananas. Flavour is disappointing however. Some malts and yeast, but with a metallic note that lingers on. Rather disappointing.
