COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Elmedage IPA is an ale brewed on english Maris Otter and caramel malt which gives the beer a deep and coppery glow. The IPA has a wonderful full body and an intense aroma of fruit and an intense flavor of hops. Expect an unusual beer brewed in cooperation with the creative owners of Ølbaren, Copenhagen.

Bottle from Magasin, Copenhagen - agree with other recent reviews, this definitely does not seem like a ipa to me. It pours a light hazy yellow colour which is overall wheat like, with strong yeast, and only slight hoppy grass notes. Despite the intial dissapointment of different beer style it actually tastes not bad, but still kind of average overall.

Nydt på København - Oslo overfarten. Klar og gylden øl med fint skum. Lidt undertrykt IPA, eller måske snarere blot "brugervenlig". Græsagtige humledufte med lidt blomster. Frisk, sprød og ret bitter. Gennemsnitlig tyngde.

Light hazy. Very fruity fragrance. A hint of the stale belgian nuances, but otherwise a decent ale. Low in bitterness, some sugar; medium hoppyness. An unusual IPA, but not bad.

Draught at Pegasus, Cph. What has happend to this beer? Never a realy interesting IPA but once a clear deep amber one with a malty body, now it’s a very pale hazy yellow with a frothy white head, looking more like a wheaty beer. Aroma s almost like a wheaty belgisk blonde, not unlike Taras Bulba. I had to check with the bartender if this really was an Elmegade IPA. Taste is sweet, yeasty, light wheaty, and only light bitter with grassy and flowery hop notes. Thin mouthfeel. Dry wheaty finish. Actually not a bad beer, but in no way an IPA. A thirst-quencher, though.

Pours hazy pale golden . White small head. Hops and bitterness. I wouldnt have guessed it was an IPA if it wasnt printed on the label actually. I like the bitterness but it is not a winner.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet. For some reason, someone at Vinmonopolet thought it was a good idea to add this one to their line of ipas last winter. I don’t see why, as there are really good ipas, both domestic and international, available at Vinmonopolet. With the small shelf space they already have for beer it’s really a waste to have this on the shelves instead of good beers. The beer itself is somewhat cloudy yellow, with a medium white head. Malty aroma with what seem to be some random old hops they had lying around. Taste is a bit better, citrus and grass, joined by malt sweetness, sweet finish. A boring beer.

Bottle at home. Withe foam 1/4 finger. Light orange color. Aroma; hey, barn, sunshine ...? Strange barley hop balance in my mouth .. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at the Oslo-Copenhagen ferry. Bittersweet, quite anonymous. Balanced in a very discreet way. A bit of a bitter tail, but not in any way outstanding.

Bottled. Pours hazy and pale golden with a nice creamy, white head. Fair lacing on the glass. Nose of light caramel malt, floral hops and citrus fruit. Sweet fruity flavor with caramel notes. Medium bodied, watery to creamy texture and average carbonation. Decent bitter finish. More an ordinary pale ale than an IPA, but a crisp summer brew.

Bottle at home. The first thing I notice when I pours the beer in the glass is the formation of a huge head. With its off-white color it collapses into something like egg white. The color of the beer is slightly cloudy light amber. The aroma is dominated by grass, hay, spices, not unlike a pilsener. Pale malt character is also present in the flavour with hints of wet hay, grass, and hops, but also some sweetness. The beer feels quite smooth in the mouth and with light to medium bitterness. An absolute easy-drinking and decent beer, but again I wonder about the interpretation of beer styles by Skands brewery where this beer feels far from an IPA, but perhaps more like a dry pilsener or golden ale.
