COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Skands Esrum is Skands Brewery interpretation of a klosteryg. I have used herbs from the monastery’s own herb garden, including juniper, lemon balm, lavender, anise and rosemary, all herbs which the monks used as flavor enhancers. Esrum is a top-fermented and has a lovely dark chestnut brown color, an aromatic fragrance and flavor rounded off with a hint of anise. Esrum is blank filtered. Esrum perfectly suited for heavy meat dishes and winter food, but can also be enjoyed alone in a quiet moment.

Bottle from Irma. Pours dark brown reddish with small beige head. Very sweet, spicy, complex and nearly medicinal but taste. Low bitterness, not really well balanced to my taste. Strong character, but I didn’t really like it.

Draft @ cockney pub, Aarhus. Sweet spicy aroma, junipers and rosemary are more prominent. Reddish brown colour with off-white head. Virtually no head lasting. Thick sweet taste with spices. Very light bitterness. Finish is sweet. Texture is oily. Average carbonation. Good body. Long lasting taste.

I fell in love with this at a visit to the monastry 3 years ago. Really it was one of those beers that started my interest in craft brewing. Pours dark brown with a thick off-white, lasting foam. Spicy aroma with some fig and dates in it. The taste is similar but also has sweet malty notes kind of dulling the spiciness. I still like it, though now it seems a little less finely tuned than the first time I tried it. Great carbonation by the way. - with thirst, Niklas

Way too herbal, ends in a sharp, unpleasent beer. Dark amber coloured, off-white head, medium duration. Heavy herbal aroma, anise and the rest of the bunch. Sweet flavor, more herbs..hey? Hops? Well, perhaps, but not detectable.

Bottle@Conni's place. Dark brown. Clear. Two finger foam. Good carbonation. Faint spicy notes. Strange herbal taste. Tends to be better after several sips.

Liten beska. Trevlig om än lite väl söt. Tänker på Achel blond extra.
