3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 visionthing (214) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 10, 2012
Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Spicy aroma with licorice. Sweet, with lots of anis, tastes almost like candy, or that you forgot that you just used the same glass to drink Pernod a few minutes ago. Not much bitterness, just the sweet caramel with some spices and alcohol.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Kronebryg (614) - Sorgenfri, DENMARK - JAN 9, 2012
Some graybrown head, not lasting, brown colour. Nose is sweet with raisins, prune, liquorice but lacking the minty flavour of Bröckhouse. Medium body and some length. Taste is liquorice, liquorice, liquorice. some raisins and prune and then liquorice. To much for my taste buds.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Foffern (117) - Bergen, NORWAY - JAN 7, 2012
Bottle at home. Deep hazy brown with a small light beige head which fades fast. Anis is very dominant in the aroma but also some herbs. A lot of shoves and anis in the mouth as well. Watery and silky mouth feel. Medium bitterness. First of all this beer surprised me. This is one of a kind beer with anis through and through. It is one of the most special beers I’ve tasted. It gets more round and balanced as the beer gets warmer with more hop taste . The mouth feel is weaker than expected. A beer that is best along with flood.

Loads of rich dark fruit. Deceivnglykie the standard Scandubavuab Chr brews, bu this is ore sophisticated.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ClubGonzo (1736) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 22, 2011
Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Bergen Storsenter. Pours a slightly hazy ruby-hued deep amber body with a small white head. Nose is deep malts, licorice root, rosemary, aniseed and generally quite a few herbs in its aromatic profile. Interesting. Taste is licorice, sweet malts, herbs and spices, with tones of rosemary, grass, aniseed again and some light alcohol touches. Peppery finish that transgresses into mild, herbal hoppy tones. Smooth body with a medium carbonation, and while the powerful herbal profile does end up giving this beer a kind of cough medicinal taint, it’s still interesting and tasty enough to enjoy. Such a contrast to other beers from Skands, which have been rather bland and uninteresting. A bottle is more than enough though, this is pretty much as far from a session beer you can get (extreme sours and imperial stouts not considered). :-)
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 gunnar (2281) - Sandnes, NORWAY - NOV 22, 2011
Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours cloudy dark amber with a huge frothy off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts and spices. Taste is light anise, moderate sweet with some spices at the end. Not too bad in my book.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Palme (1200) - Bergen, NORWAY - OCT 31, 2011
0.5l bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours a dark red-brown body with a nice big and lasting both fluffy and bubbly lightly tanned head. Aroma is sweet and spiced! Lots of spices, dark malts, flowers and caramel. Quite different. Average small-bubbled carbonation with a slick to oily mouthfeel. Flavors are also quite spicy with sweet banana-caramel, white pepper, nutmeg and tones of licorice in the finish and a nice warming hint of alcohol in the aftertaste. Different indeed, but it has a lovely mouthfeel and quite a few interesting flavors all the way.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tarjei (1941) - Bryne, NORWAY - OCT 16, 2011
50 cl bottle at home. Very dark brown reddish color, nice beige head. Aroma is spices, dark dried fruit and hints of liqorice. Flavor has sweet, with dark fruit, spices/herbs and salt liqorice. Bitterness in the aftertaste; I don´t know if it is from roasted malt, spices/herbs or jops. Fine carbonation. Fine beer, but the balance could be better, and it is maybe a bit too sweet.
