Danish: Skands Esrum Kloster er Bryggeriet Skands fortolkning af en klosteryg. Der er brugt krydderurter fra klostrets egen urtehave, bl.a. enebær, citronmelisse, lavendel, anis og rosmarin, alle urter som munkene brugte som smagsforstærkere. Esrum Kloster er en overgæret og har en dejlig mørk kastanjebrun farve, en aromatisk duft og smagen afrundes med en snert af anis.
Esrum Kloster er blankfiltreret.
Esrum Kloster egner sig fortrinligt til kraftige kødretter og vinter mad, men kan også nydes alene i en stille stund.

English: Skands Esrum is Skands Brewery interpretation of a klosteryg. I have used herbs from the monastery’s own herb garden, including juniper, lemon balm, lavender, anise and rosemary, all herbs which the monks used as flavor enhancers. Esrum is a top-fermented and has a lovely dark chestnut brown color, an aromatic fragrance and flavor rounded off with a hint of anise. Esrum is blank filtered. Esrum perfectly suited for heavy meat dishes and winter food, but can also be enjoyed alone in a quiet moment.

Bottle at Esbjerg beerfestival. Dark amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma is star anise, cinnemon, malt, hop. Flavour is sweet, star anise, cinnemon, malt, hop, spices. Medium to full body. Strange beer.

Bottle. Dark mahogany with pale brown head. Aroma very sweet and spicy, notes of lavender and staranise. Taste too sweet and too spiced as well. Taste dominated by lavender and staranise, The original Esrum Kloster from Brøckhouse was a better beer, this one gets too spiced, sweet and cloying. It seems like the beer is going in too many directions, not wellcomposed.

clear dark maghoni brown, smooth creamy offwhite head. lagerish aroma (btw. not a lager), a little caramelly sweet, some spices, dry , nutty, caramelly and a little sweet. flavor is spice dominated. anise and licorice, citrus, caramelly sweetnes, somehow the spices work out pretty well, even though there are lots of them. for a spiced beer, appears balanced. alc pretty well hidden.

500 ml bottle. Amber body with a big, creamy beige head that disappears quite fast. Aroma has malt bit is dominated by spices like estragon and anise, it also smells like perfume (lavender?). Flavor is quite light with lots of spices from aroma, rather unbalanced actually. Not all bad but not the best beer either.

50cl bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Spicy aroma, anise, medicine, licorice, caramel. Flavor has xmas spices, along with licorice and caramel. Long finish with anise among other herbs. Quite tasty actually, balanced.

Bottle at Jydske Øldage 2009. Frothy white fair mostly lasting head. Dark amber colour. moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Pepper notes. moderate bitter very spicey flavor. Plumb and cinnamon notes. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate.

16-NOV-2009, tap at DØE medlemsmøde. Very Dark Brown with nice off-white head. Cane sugar, liqourice (the more the warmer it gets), dark berries. Creamy, short taste. Nice brown ale.

Brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is dominated by spice, but has some decent nutty malt behind it. I sense cookie spices and herbs, too dominating, but at least blending nicely together for a unique aroma. Sweetish malty flavour with the herbs and spices mostly entering the aftertaste.

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2014 Bottle, at Esbjerg Beerfestival. A reddish dark, amber I guess, beer with an off-white head. More or less clear body. The aroma has a strange herbal spicyness as well as malts. Thyme or gale maybe? Well, the flavor is pretty much the same, with the added joy of caramel. Medium to full body. Herbal, bitter finish. A rather strange beer, but also quite nice. Not sure if I could drink much of it though. Rating: 6-4-6-4-13-3.3. 091022

Bottle, as Skands Bison Brew. A clear, reddish dark brown beer with a small, dense, beige head. The aroma has a spiced touch in the back, with licorice notes, some dried fruits and caramel. Roasted malts, caramel, licorice, spices and herbs and some dried fruits in the flavor. Decent carbonation level, full body. Lasting spiced, licorice finish with toffee and roasted malts. A decent one, but not a beer I could drink a few of. 141025
