COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: New stout is a dark beer with a light sweetness and a fresh bitterness. The ingredients are Danish pilsner malts, münchener malts, caramel malts, colour malts and aroma hops. The beer is inspired by the traditional Irish Stout but with a more subtle flavour and aroma. The beer is brewed with a traditional lager yeast. The beer is excellent as a cold refreshment but also deserves to be enjoyed with food. Goes well with spicy food.

(Bottle 70 cl) Reddish more thna black, discreet lightly creamy head. Don’t expect a burned, dry stout here, think more of a Dunkel - Czech style, although admittedly stronger. And as such it works all right. Mainly this is all malt, roasted malt with only weak hints of licorice. 110704

Brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma of chocolate, spices and nuts. The flavour is a watery, but dominated by chocolate, coffee and spices. Not bad, but tastes and looks more like a dunkel than a stout.

Dark nut brown, vanishing white head. Alty chocolaty weak nose. Malty chocolaty body. Clean but nothing special, thin for a stout.

(700 ml bottle). Deep brown colour, but far from black. Probably the palest "stout" I’ve seen. But if you disregard the chosen style name, this is a drinkable and refreshing beer. Good head which leaves a nice lacing. Moderate malty aroma with a light roastiness, plenty of caramel but not really sweetish. Flavour is malts and caramel fairly well balanced with the hops, but the mouthfeel is a bit thin and watery. Reasonably hoppy aftertaste. OKish.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2006 Bottle. Deep reddish copper colour with a white/light brown head. Nice, although not very stout-like. Light malty aroma with a nut-like bitterness. Wood and oil. Pretty bitter, oily flavour. The aftertaste is not so powerful. A bit watery palate. Easy to ’take on’, but still has the ’voluminous’ qualities of the stout, albeit dampened a bit.

(on bottle) What´s the point here? Pale as a dunkel and just a dry, bitter taste of beer. Wonder what´s going trough the head of a brewer, who puts it all on the line and then makes such bad beer as Skands? Or is she secretly supported by Carlsberg; Skands is all over the place all of a sudden. I see a consperacy, and a bad beer, for sure. Go back to making Carlsberg Light Birthe.
